Can someone help me with my gen rc4?
Its displaying Warning: This asset uses an obsolete trainz-build number. Trainz-build numbers below 2.7 are no longer supported.Warning: Required tag 'username' was missing and has been set to default.

I tried changing the bulid no but the warning was still there the config is

Hi, This problem is due to the asset being outdated. It is a pre-2009 asset. The mesh files are showing as .PM (progressive meshes) which are no longer supported. You will need to convert the .PM meshes over to .im (indexed meshes) which is what TS2012 reads.

Now the problem with the mesh table not being there, when it actually is otherwise the other meshes wouldn't appear. To fix it just open the asset in content creator or open the configuration file and update the build from 2.7 to at least 2.9 or higher. The highest being 3.7 for TS2012 SP1 HF3.

To convert the .PM meshes to .im meshes you will need to download PEV Tools pm2im mesh convertor which Shane Turner has hosted over on his forums.

Easy way of checking is looking at the laptop icon in Content Manager for that asset. Does it have an orange tinge in it, or is it all grey?

^ Same problem here. Now my regions won't work.

By the way, bad news, it ruined my error free wonderful Cotton Belt Route. That really is a let down. I am letting it do the QDR and EDR, etc. But, if it does not fix, then I will resort to moving the userdata content, uninstall, reboot, fresh install, patch straight to SP1 HF4, and try again.

The fix is simple. It's not as bad as you think. :)

Download the latest Audacity from Source Forge

http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/?source=directory

Open the audio files.

Change the project audio frequency settings to 44100.

Export as Wav format and overwrite the faulty asset using MS Wav 16PCM format.

Commit, and you're done.

There is one file that I could not repair. This is the station_ambient1.wav which is common in older assets. This is the one with the people mumbling and walking around and is quite annoying. I simply deleted the sound-file container reference to it in the config.txt file.

What's interesting is now I have fire engines blaring all over where they didn't make a peep before.

Great fix but problem shouldn't be there. This needs to be fixed, NV3 and Auran has allowed all off this since the start of trainz, they should have said, these are the rules for content creation from the strat.

And what is the difference to bring lower frequency waw file to 44100 it is not gonna change the quality.

Also missing thurnbails should not create errors but warnings.
 
nicolaas1 - you will find in certain cases it's actually the creator who has failed to follow the standards given by Auran/N3V, who have stated what the requirements are.

The frequency change is necessary to make the content compliant.

Missing thumbnails are usually warnings (apart from TS12 SP1), but some creators have created the entries in the config file, but not the actual file. This is as bad as not having a thumbnails section at all.

Still if the entry is there and the file not it should be enough to give a warning as you don't need the thurnbail to use the content.

In most cases we can place a dummy, but there are a few creators that just set .jpg nothing to do about that.
In this case the only thing you can do is remove it.

And that can be a long job

Also seen the list of missing kuid's for the uploaded content, again if you want to upload something make sure that everything is on the dls.

Now there is a lot of content that we have to go search for and mostly don't find.

These should be removed from the dls.
 
I don't agree. Just because a piece of content uses content that's not on the Download Station does not mean it should be removed. There is quite a bit of good content on third-party sites.

I see you do not realise the implications of missing files. Also, it can be done as a batch job using software like Asset-X.
