Tuesday evening a train stopped unscheduled between Lommel and Lier in Belgium.
Reason? The train driver forgot to fuel the engine he was driving .

The train had 15 passengers on board at that moment.

It took some time to get a replacement train, but when that arrived the doors of the replacement train were broken :hehe:. It took some passengers more then 3 hours to reach their destination.

Fuelling is the task of the shedmen here, they fill up the sand as well. The drivers and assistants just get on board with their kits, do their tests and checks and off they go.

Many Years ago, think it was back in 1998, Tore and I was to go to the top of Pike' Peak in Colorado, out of Manitou Springs, at the lunch train around early October I think it was.

The moment we came to a place called Windy Point, just above the tree line, the whole 2 car train set stopped...

Reason, well, they had before we left taken out a wagon/car, and not refilled the remaining cars with more fuel, so, we where out of fuel...

Took some hours to get from that place, not that far from the top, luckily way below us we had passed a work train and they cam to our rescue, only problem, they had to fill the fuel into a small hand held can, and fill that over into one of the motor cars...

Cave us something to remember and talk about. :)

Later that evening we where at a hobby shop in Colorado Springs, the guys there was laughing hard when they heard the story, and one of the guys told us that many of the drivers of the Cog Road is often into the shop, so they would get to hear this he said. :hehe:

Memories... :)

Linda, getting old... :hehe:
