This site shows the three proposed lines by our state transportation department to link Our two main cities (flagstaff is growing but I still wouldn't quite call it a city.
If this system is used I presume that they would possibly work with CalTrans to come up with a cross funded system to link San Diego and Phoenix and ADOT may eventually try to work with Nevada to open a route to Vegas (these three routes are very highly traveled to from Phoenix (along with flagstaff but the route to flagstaff would run around it so far it wouldn't make sense without creating new right of way in a very bad place for right of way.))
anyways for those of you who have kept tabs on our developing rail transport modes the Light Rail is also having the first two extensions built right now extending it a couple of stations southward and about 5-6 northwestward.
