  1. Well, again best I recollect (no guarantee since at my age I can't recollect how long it's been since my recollector recollected correctly) all I did was repaint it, I didn't mess with any of the controls. Checking my repaint against the original it works exactly the same, the reverser appears to be backwards (compare to all the side consoles based on Gen SD where forward is right and reverse is left, the SD40 is just the opposite) in both the repaint and the original. Dynamics I'll have to look at later today, at the moment I have a long AI test running which needs another two hours before I can confirm it has no hidden script errors.

    Just to follow up on the SD lighted cab you did...The throttle works, the reverser lever is in the far left position (reverse?), and the dynamic brake lever is all the way to the right but the indicator says "on." Shouldn't that be off if the train is moving?

    Ah! Okay...no, I don't have one of those......yet.

    I wonder if there's a way of doing the day/night modes for can interiors? Maybe I'll throw that idea up onto the forum and see if anyone is up for the challenge. If MSTS can do it, why not Trainz?

  4. "Raildriver" is one of these;

    As for day/night cabs I fiddled with those for MSTS, don't know if it's possible with Trainz. What I generally try to do is hit a happy medium that looks good for both day and night.

    This is what I mean by night cabs: http://www.dieselswest.com/Screensho...9/nightcab.jpg

    I normally use DCC, but the issue is in AI as well. I'm not sure what you mean by "Raildriver"? I have Trainz12 with Surveyor.

    I like the Dash cab since it's the only one I've seen with the updated control console. I have a graphics background, so I would like to see if I can build on what he started. I've done some quick Google searches for interior pics and see there are a couple different configurations to use as a model. The one thing I will say for MSTS is they have much better cab interiors for common engines (and the wreck physics seem better).

    Here's a question - is there a way to switch between a day and night version of the cab interior? I saw an MSTS thread where someone was modeling Dash 9 interiors that included a "darkness" version where the instrument panel glowed - along the lines of what you did, but apparently able to shift between day and night. I don't know if Trainz supports that at all?
  7. Forgot to ask, CAB or DCC mode, are you using Raildriver or no? I can't duplicate the non working reverser in either SD40 cab here.
  8. No, if you read the license it says you can do whatever you want provided you credit the original creator, looking at it now I see he's added me and himself to the credits. Justifiably, best I recall that was his first upload under his own KUID, and the kid has a right to be proud of all the work he did getting it updated for build 2.9 and getting all the controls to work under the new format. You can assume permission to reskin that one and any of my cabviews, I always thought copyright for freeware is rather silly.

    As for the working innards I dunno - what I'm looking at here is the reverser in the SD40 cab seems to be moving the wrong direction but it does move, looking at the original Auran SD40 cab it was cloned from the reverser does the same thing. Computer screen animation for the Dash 9 console cab is beyond my skills, it never had it so it would have to be added in 3Dmax or something.

    I just noticed you didn't create the interior for the Dash. I presume I would need to contact sd45t-2 about this? I've been reskinning a Dash 9 for my fictional Union Atlantic freight, trying to make it look more realistic. I'd like to redo the interior as well. But, assuming I have everyone's okay, I'd consider uploading the finished product, minus my livery, so folks could customize it for themselves. Thanks!

    I just double checked and now I found that the only thing that doesn't work right is the reverser. I could have sworn I saw the dynamic in the wrong position...I'll look for it again. But as I'd still like to use this interior for my SD40s, is there a fix for the reverser? I have been getting a little into reskinning. I like the realism of the SD40 interior. I'd like to try reworking some of the Dash interior...I have the ability to work with the jpg and tga files in Photoshop, but not the functioning gauges. I'd love, for example, to have the computer screen register the speed and the 'Wilma' register the brake pressure. If I were able to spiff up the other files, would you be able to do the functional end?
