The Alco Project.... still alive... me though....

by n8phu on June 13th, 2012 at 11:18 AM
Ok, the rumors of my demise are untrue...

There has been more progress on the RS-18U, new horns have been made and new handrails are in progress.

I was going to post a pic of the new work, but this blog keeps puking every time I do.

I also have been working on some skinning skills and some 3ds skills that should up my game....

Alco Project update

by n8phu on March 4th, 2012 at 02:33 PM
Its been a fun month here at The Erecting Hall.... and by fun I mean a punch to the face..

Anyways, the Alco Project is still moving along, there have been some delays due to real life...Family comes first, period.

The RS-18u is coming along, the PRR/PC Alco C424/425s are just about complete, next are the Reading and Erie / Erie Lackawanna units.... In planning are some NdeM units, CP and CN..

C430s and 420s are up next.... Work has started on the 3 axle trucks

Timeline, cab views, and blank skins

by n8phu on February 6th, 2012 at 04:52 PM
Well, things are progressing along. I just wished I could get models out of the shop a little quicker, but quicker doesn't equal better.

As for a set timeline for the models i am doing, there isn't one. There is no way I could estimate when I will finish a certain model.... Work and Family take priority.

Custom Cabview: I am working on one for these units. I haven't attempted a cabview before, so please be patient. New territory here. I know some people are frustrated by

Alcos and Multiplayer, Bogeys, Engine Specs, and the DLS Oh my!

by n8phu on February 5th, 2012 at 02:50 PM
Ok, a few points that I need to address.

I have been posting dependencies to the DLS for the ALCOS. Bogeys, Engine Specs, Etc. Nikos1 has posted up his airhorn and Engine sounds to the DLS already. Rumor is he is also working on a alco 251 12 cylinder sound

Engine specs: I am using the info from The Diesel Shop to make default engine specs for the ALCOS using TEE. Dynamic braking is still kicking my behind, so I am working out how to generate those using TEE. ANY help

From the beginning, I guess.................... ...............

by n8phu on February 5th, 2012 at 02:21 PM
I guess I should regress and give some more info...

For the longest time, I wanted some really big Alcos for Trainz. Monon monsters, Leigh Valley Snowbirds and Cornell Red beasts, Conrail bruised pairs..... I always felt that the lack of these engines may actually be hindering the progress of some routes due to their absence.

So, I decided that I was going to try and fill this gap.

Josheh and I talked a bit, and he mentioned he still had the Robe Alco files,
