Plywood Skiff

Hello again!

Back to introduce my latest small project. Inspired by the fishing scene in the map created by Chris, I thought a small skiff might be a good idea.
So I started finding sketches and drawings, found finally a boat which suits my needs. And find out, that making the mesh for a boat hull is not exactly simple, but quite sophisticated...

So I started investigations about software which can help doing a proper hull and I find a jewel called Delftship. And what is very wonderful, there is a free version ( http://www.delftship.net/delftship/ ) and a quite huge database of free models.
Inside this free model database I found exactly what I was looking for. After clarifying the copyright subject, I chose a model from Chris Harris (Blackwater 15).

Here is the mesh at a very early state. Something like this you get from Delftship.

I already stripped thousands of vertices, because Delftship is intended to create real and very precise hulls. So if you want to use the mesh within Trainz a lot of work is still to do, but you get very perfect forms of a hull.

Because of the water problem (see here http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?103120-Here-comes-the-Flood ), I intend to do several versions, one with bilge boards for usage within water and one or two for usage outside the water without the bilge, maybe one on wooden trestles.

So far, the in-water-version looks like this:

Mick!

P.S.: If you intend to use Delftship and the models from their database, please be so kind to ask permission! They are very friendly and helpful fellas there!
