All features mentioned are part of all versions of my tool unless otherwise stated.

Downloading the tool

To download the tool, visit
http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/tutorials/index.php/utilities/system-info-utility then scroll down to the Download Links section.

Click the relevant download link for the version you want. (Note: the clickonce version is a special version that will auto-update as new releases are made. Also note that the Patch Finder tool will not work on the Clickonce version)

Save the file to your computer. Read the web page thoroughly before downloading the tool as it covers the system requirements as well as possible hurdles.

The Standard and Beta versions do not require installation.

Once the tool is downloaded, run it by double-clicking the program file (if you are using the Clickonce version, double-click the shortcut for the program)

Getting your system specifications (all versions)

When the program has started, it will automatically display your system specifications.
Using the Networking Component feature (all versions - requires access to the Internet)

To use this component, click the Check Connection Issues button on the Main screen.

On the screen that then appears, click Run Connection Test. Note that the program may freeze during this process if there is a problem with the connection.

Using the Trainz Build Info feature (Standard and Beta versions only - requires administrator permissions)

To use this feature, click Trainz Build Info on the main screen, then wait for the process to complete.

Using the Patch Finder feature (Beta version only - requires administrator permissions)

To use this feature, click Patch Finder on the main screen. You will then see a screen with three buttons. Click the top button to select your TS2009,TS2010 or TS12 installation folder. Once this is done, the second button will become available.

Once the second button is available, click the second button to check the N3V site for patches. (Note: the tool can also find Just Trains patches as well). The program will automatically display the patch filename and will enable the final button.

Once the final button is available, click it to start the download and install process. Take note of the warning that is displayed - once the patch starts,do not cancel it unless it has aborted itself.

How to copy the information from any feature apart from the Patch Finder feature

To copy the information shown to a forum post, click Copy to Clipboard, then right-click in a forum post (when replying to a thread, creating a thread, or editing a post) and click Paste.

If you want to save it to a Rich Text Format file for comparison purposes or similar, use the Save to File... button.

Hopefully this will help users that wish to use my PC Information Application.

Changes in Version 2

The components of the application are now in the Utilities menu.
