  • TS12 SP1 Hotfix 1 now available.

N3V is proud to announce the release of our first hotfix for TS12 SP1.

The following fixes are included in this hotfix:
    - Locos/Rolling Stock with the tag "max-coupler-gap 0" no longer derail when coupling.
    - Built in assets are now able to be reverted.
    - Issues with patcher rollback fixed to prevent corrupting installs.

The manual patch can be downloaded here: http://download.ts2009.com/patch/57720_to_57825.exe (29,848 KB)

The automatic patch will be available soon.

As always, please ensure you have any Antivirus/System Monitoring software disabled during this patch.

Please note that we are still working on other fixes that will be included in upcoming hotfixes across the next few weeks. We are currently testing fixes for several issues, including:
    - Corrupt/missing Speedtrees when alt-tabbing in and out of game.
    - Random performance drops/freezes on specific machines.

Further, for any Raildriver users that missed it: We have provided a fix for Raildriver in TS12 SP1. Please head to the following thread for more details:

A note to those using IE10 to download this patch - Smartscreen Filter will cause you problems (N3V - may be worth looking into digitally signing these patches).

Mine seems to have stalled near the end, tried to cancel and get a message saying patch sucessful ( which is good) so left it running.

That's slightly surprising - mine ran as normal and only took 5-10 minutes. Probably related to the database repair it does.

Mine would have done but forgot to turn my av off, still running (30 minutes).

Whoops - not good. As I use AVG Internet Security, I can temporarily disable the protection from the system tray icon.

I know, I know, first thing I usually do. Avast was running it in the sandbox.

eady to install from local patch file.
      Current version: 57720.

Checking for available disk space for patching.
      Unpacking patch file...
      Patching from 57720 to 57825...

      Failed patch command: "E:\TS12\bin\JAConverter.exe" patchapply "E:\TS12\Base.ja.pbk" "C:\Users\dads\AppData\Local\Temp\file3206023\data \Base-diff.ja" "E:\TS12\Base.ja"
      Failed patch command: "E:\TS12\bin\JAConverter.exe" patchapply "E:\TS12\Data.ja.pbk" "C:\Users\dads\AppData\Local\Temp\file3206023\data \Data-diff.ja" "E:\TS12\Data.ja"
There are no more patches for this build.

Updating Trainz asset database... (this may take several minutes)

That may affect things, as JAConverter has failed to run on your version.

Thanks for the heads up, Shane. We'll look at what we can do for future patches.

Yeah it looks like something nasty happened there. Was this the first time you attempted to patch to 57825? Or did you have a patch that stalled previously and this was a second attempt? I take it you didn't have any problems patching to 57720?

My advice would be to reinstall and try again at this point, but we do want to try and get to the bottom of what happened so we can make sure other people don't run into it as well.

No problem - I've a feeling that IE8 and IE9 users may also get affected by that as well.

Affected users should click either the small cross next to the message (If they do not want to run it straight away), or Actions > Run anyway (if they do want to run it straight away).

      Shane

EDIT: Just found that the small X actually removes it from the download list. Alternative advice in this circumstance is to click Actions, followed by Don't Run this Program.

I think I can understand what's happened in fran1's case. Avast has a 'sandbox' feature, where it runs programs but isolates them from the rest of the system, and prevents them from running external processes. Another reason for people to pay attention to the 'turn off your antivirus software first' message.

No problems to 57720, first time to 57825.

What about the other bugs discussed in the 'TS12 SP1 bugs' thread? I hope to see them fixed too!

I think you might be right there... Obviously, we'd advise turning off/disabling Avast entirely during patching, but I'll see what we can do about getting a copy here to confirm whats going on. We most likely will not fix the issue (because the fix more simply "don't do that") but it might help in identifying these issues for helpdesk, etc.

That's the plan. While we can't look at fixes for everything, we hope to provide fixes for the biggest/most problematic bugs. We'll provide more details about this as we bring out additional hotfixes.

You do advise turning av off, downright stupidity on my part not doing.

Well, here's a fix for my situation:

Copy all UserData contents (cut and paste) to another folder on same drive, this is fastest way to move it. Uninstalled TS12, had to clean up registry to do that, mine would not do regular uninstall. Reboot... install just TS12, reboot, install SP1, reboot, added patch, reboot. Copied all the contents in UserData folder to another folder on same drive, moved the original back in place. Opened Content Manager, executed Quick Database Repair. Working great now. Finally........

I didn't disable Avast, I just told it to ignore the Trainz Drive, reboot first though otherwise it ignores the setting, no problems patching here, was so quick I missed it had finished.

Mines set to ignore the 3 drives I've got trainz on.
