I'd forgotten about this blog - mostly because I got distracted on other things. I did a Google search on "Substance Painter texture size" and came up with this discussion about the same issue back in 1916. https://forum.substance3d.com/index.php?topic=11899.0 The Allegorithmic staff member said it was a known limitation. So far, I cannot see anything in SP that suggests it has been addressed. (edit) just saw Ron's comments in the thread you started.
Hi all ! Usually, in my Blender projects, I use square textures. Today, I have an example where I have to use a texture 2048 by 1024. I made UV maps on Blender with a texture 2048 by 1024. In Substance Painter, I therefore adapted the resolution to 2048 by 1024: unfortunately, the 2D viewport has a square texture, so it has a deformation. Is there a way to display the texture in the right proportions? In Blender: https://zupimages.net/up/20/02/hnbq.png In Substance Painter : https://zupimages.net/up/20/02/rz9v.png Friendly
For all. If you are wondering why I am waffling on about project structures etc, it's because I've been burned by this before and, while I was watching some Maya LT videos, the author recommended a structure like this for projects. It seemed like a good idea. My CNJ840 project files are a bit of a mess as I have stopped and started this project several times. I also have trouble remembering what I was last doing so I may include progress notes in my model sections. My intention is to take a snapshot of what I have and then move the "bare bones" models, i.e. without textures, into this structure. At the end of the project I'll review the structure and let you know if it worked.

... thanks ... and will follow this blog ... respect ...
looks quite impressive
The TS2010 set for me sits me just fine. The wings I can animate. What I'd like is the piston-rods animated and a script written, but the script can come later. Unfortunately, I lost the .blend file for that model in the hard-drive failure. Nothing was recoverable. So it will be quite a wait until I have the thing ready again. Luckily I have the GTA VC files to convert or I could reverse-engineer the .im already in Trainz. Kieran.
I'd like to keep the batch that I have just updated as 3.7 so that they can be seen as compliant to that version. I could also release another set with new kuids for TS10 only but that might be confusing to some. Or, I could just make a TS10 set for you and not upload those to the DLS. I'm open to suggestions. My real aim is to get these assets off my "todo" list as there are other locos I want to make. And, I recall volunteering to animate your "Back to the Future" loco wings. Is that still on? I think I may have misplaced some e-mails on the issue.
Best of luck to you regarding the uploading. We'll discuss options regarding me using BB in TS2010 once that problem is sorted. One issue at a time. Kieran.
I'm considering some options. Right now I have a problem getting any onto the DLS because it doesn't like the way I did some of the script. CM didn't complain and the updates work ok in TS12 but the DLS verification process doesn't like them.
Well, I'm not upgrading, just getting a hard drive replacement. But I am also getting Windows 7 put on so my computer will run a bit better. Probably not TS12-able better and certainly not T:ANE. But we shall have to see. Is there a chance, then, that I could have the loco sent for backdating? Of course, it is your model and I'd not want to force you into something. I can run the regular BR version but a lined one would be nice as well. Kieran.

Please, make this available for at least TS2010 so I may use it as well. Kieran. I'd prefer not to for the reason given. I know you have computer woes but hopefully you can upgrade prior to T:ANE release. There were really very few changes but the most visible would be the lining on the BR version.

Had a little bit of fun with Bertha today. I've been using Trainz to try and come up with ideas for a model rail layout that'll fit on my 68 x 8 inch window ledge and to get to know surveyor a little better. I think I'm going to go for either LMS or early BR stock so I had Bertha hauling some of the traffic. I doubt she's ever pulled a suburban passenger service before. I only experimented with the pinstriping and perhaps on the most difficult mesh in the loco. Since it was never that colour I guess I could do whatever I like. The red looked a bit faded and I think I would prefer a glossy look. Maybe I'll dust it off and get working again. I'm a bit tired of writing scripts.
I think your crimson lake livery looks good. I think your issue is because it's unfinished. Once the gold lining has been added to the boiler, firebox and cabside I think it'll look spot on. Shouldn't the edge of the running plate be red and gold lined too?
They did close off avatar submissions a long time ago, but if they were to open again I'd upload the two I have. It's your choice on Uniform Colour. I'm keeping my TS12 SP1 install fairly clean for beta testing, with only Multiplayer stuff added into it, so the warnings don't really affect me as I only use Bertha in TS2010.
Hi Kieran, Its a WIP and has been somewhat delayed by work for others, TS12 SP1 and a gazillion other excuses. It's half a loco because I build my stuff as mirrored as much as possible and, when I'm happy, I apply the mirror and save it as a "release" version. Plus last time i worked on it I wasn't happy with the crimson lake colour. Some of my web searches have produced variations so I'm not sure what to do about it. I'd like to have a BB avatar for my Trainz id but I understood N3V had closed that off? I'm also wondering if it is worth amending the various BB models to get rid of the uniform colour warning. Its only a warning but I prefer clean commits.
Sorry I haven't contributed to this thread yet! I'm, amongst my own models, working on a session for Big Bertha, using the Lickey Incline route on the DLS. I just noticed that half the cab on the Crimson Lake version is missing. Why's this? We need a train avatar submission program, as I have a Big Bertha and a Matchbox Loco avatar waiting.
