Since the report last month, the museum at Menzies Creek has now mostly completed the overhaul of the two Tangye engines, along with works to the boiler, and all three are now operational again. The engines still require the cladding on the cylinders, however mechanically the work is completed apart from minor adjustments to some parts to improve running. The engine and boiler work was completed in time for them to be a part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the return of Puffing Billy operations to Menzies Creek. On Saturday the 21st of July, ‘6A’ (14A in disguise, with red handrails and headstocks as was worn by 6A and 7A when services returned) operated a special train for members and guests to Menzies Creek to replicate the first ‘shakedown’ train operated to Menzies Creek on the 21st of July 1962.

On the 28th of July, a second members special with 7A (again, 14A in disguise) will operate to Menzies Creek to replicate the first public train to Menzies Creek, with a plaque being unveiled for the new museum building during this event.

I have included some photos from the event on the 21st, showing our two tangye engines running, and 6A arriving into Menzies Creek.
