Just a quick question. What sort of wagons would be used in the UK for transporting barrels? The sort used as in beer barrels etc, both in the steam and diesel eras. Thanks

I know that the GER had dedicated ale vans which had holes in the sides for ventilation'

What, they would leave the beer stacked up on open flat wagons.. where was when this happening, why wasn't I born sooner...:hehe:

First they had free coal on offer, then I find out they also had free beer lying around...

Ah well another opportunity gone, never mind.
