Hi everyone,

I use Trainz 2009 - World Builder's Edition in Vista 32-bit. All of a sudden, I cannot access my Content Manager; I try to run it from the Trainz launcher and it just gives me a message saying 'Content Manager has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem'. Has anyone else had this issue? I also use Trainz on my other computer, which is Windows XP, and it has never happened on that one.

Hi VL1238,

Three things to check.

Firstly, are you running Trainz as administrator if using Basic or Home Premium? See http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/tutorials/index.php?page=running-as-administrator for my short tutorial on doing this.

Secondly, what graphics card does your system have?

Thirdly, did TrainzDiag report any errors? (TrainzDiag can be found in <trainz install folder>/Bin)

I tried running the program as an administrator; that didn't work; I've just found that several applications are not working; I tried to run TrainzDiag but it crashes every time, and I was notified of a patch, but as soon as I tried to install the patch it crashed also. I think this may be related to the graphics card.

OK - now we're getting somewhere.

If it's an Intel graphics card, you will not be able to use Content Manager.

It's also worth checking why the patch failed, as the game is likely to need a reinstall.

I tried a re-install before posting on the forums, but that had no effect either. I don't know why the patch has failed on me because I can't access the Patcher Utility.

It will give me this message:
'Unable to download patch file: http://download.ts2009.com/patch/38411_to_40040.tz'.
That's all it will give me to go on.

Check that your firewall is not blocking it.

No, nothing is blocking it.

OK, I think I've fixed it. After updating my graphics driver, it is now allowing me to open Content Manager.

Thankyou for helping me to identify the problem. :)

Its ok - hopefully I can help resolve the patch issue later on.
