Where could i find some factory buildings that are fairly realistic?? Some houses or miscellaneous buildings would help too.

Dave Snow has a lot of nice building on the DLS. They are mostly smaller buildings like homes and shops.

Dave Snow also has some fine factories, industrial and agricultural buildings on the DLS. You may want to check out Isegrin's thread and others on the screenshot forum and start asking questions there. DM Drake made some buildings long ago that are still being used today, those are on the DLS. Kenichiro has made great industrial buildings, and Deane has a few as well.

Since you mentioned houses, and you live in the Chicago suburbs (where I grew up), take a look on the DLS for content by author: tlanders, and then "brick houses". You will find dozens to choose from. Many of them are identical to the post WWII brick homes built by the thousands in the newer neighborhoods of Chicago and the inner suburbs. Some of them come in groups of four making building entire neighborhoods more efficient.

Some of the Russian sites have some very high quality industrial buildings too.

Ah, yes you do and they are to be recommended! Forgive my oversight Mike, I always think of your locomotives rather than your buildings!
