Hi All,

Just a quick one, is it normal for Trainz 12 to run the Asset Database Updater every time I load the game? The only reason I ask is that when it runs this it takes 35-40 mins, which gets rather annoying. Dose this mean there is something wrong with the program?

Cheers,

Anthony.

It is only normal if you fail to wait 5 minutes after closing Trainz before shutting down your system.

Well, mayby not 5 minutes but in options you will find a button to click to show tadameon(wrong spelling I'm sure but you get the idea.) on your desktop taskbar.
Always wait until this clears before you turn off the computer.

I usually recommend 5 minutes to allow TADDaemon to fully complete.

Sometimes it completes in less than a minute, sometimes it's up to 5 minutes.

(usually takes longer if TrainzUtil is running at the same time)

EDIT: The following image may help. The box that needs to be ticked is the one that is ticked in the screenshot.

EDIT: You will probably find your build number is different to mine, as I use TS2009 SP4.

Ah, well that explains it. Thanks for the heads up, Im guessing its only Trainz 12 that this matters, as I never noticed it to be an issue for '09.

Thanks,
Anthony.

 Who knows what the Command Prompts are saying. The only thing I recognize is "Logging in to Planet Auran," the dreaded "STARTING DATABASE REPAIR," etc.

I have had a TAD-Repair running for TS09 for the last five hours and can tell you if you open another Launcher Window, you have initialized a TAD-Repair all over again.

The point is, let the TAD-Repair order completely finish and do not cancel.

The use of the developer database process window (Command Prompt Windows) at least tells you what we did not know was happening in previous versions.

Trainz is a seriously intense program and when tons of assets are in the local folder is takes time to manage those assets, the changes made by the user including route, traincar and object edits, updates available, deletions and obsoletions.

I currently have the TADDaemon Window present; so far:

Restart of the repair at 112-minutes
prep time 0.171622-seconds
Deletes time 4252.738454-seconds
Adds time 40.9226538-seconds
change time 7169.968008-seconds
obsoletions time 4201.135707-seconds
to obsoletions time 375:46.5-minutes:secondsNo biggie, that's just over 6-hours...:hehe: ...I have over 110GB in my Trainz Folder!

I have done tons of stuff in the meantime...
