Ok, I read pratically every artical about reskinning, but they all tell me to clone the file, edit in explorer, and open the largest .tga file in the body folder with GIMP or photoshop. I do not have photoshop but I have gimp. For me there aren't any tga files in the body folder, just .texture files which I cannot open with anything. I was going to reskin a Metro-North p32ac-dm into an Amtrak p42 in TC. Thank you for your help!

.texture files are some kind of weird compiled texture format, apparently no longer used. You need Images2TGA from

Covers one way to do that. The important thing is to make sure you have all the matching .tga files for all the original .texture files, then delete the .texture files (otherwise you'll see the original texture instead of your repaint ingame) being extra careful to delete ONLY all the FileName.texture files, NOT FileName.texture.txt files.
