Beattie, I do not have TS12 nor do I plan on it anytime soon (very happy with TS2010 with Compatibility Mode).

As for your question, there are infact new SpeedTrees Built-In. I gave Auran about a year ago the means and knowledge base on how to fix and resolve many issues, however I can not state any fact on if they utilized my knowledge base I provided them. Auran is not misleading in the advertisement as I provided new SpeedTrees for this route.

The N&W Appalachian Coal Route has Payware UltraTreez and "Never Released UltraTreez to the public" made specifically for the route made by GAWPO50 (if pic does not show, refresh page?):

http://uqh2yw.bay.livefilestore.com/y1ps_K07Qs8Pq-3u93VABKpdJctWBVKNJyBsTL8ii6twGOuBUQ6wnZp9DiOymFO0 mt-xqNpaY0pceyD7gFsqOsM8T-lAZ2PxQh2/Untitled-1%20copy.jpg

I also am extremely curious on whether the 5.2 IDV Collection is included in TS12, how many of my DLS SpeedTrees were incorporated into TS12, and if they implimented my popular Wind Dynamics Fix I sent them plus other knowledge on the built-ins of TS2010.

No there isnt. But there is a nice Tram/Elevated Rail route.

Just imported Blue Comet, Murchinson 2, SnC, and TS2010 to TS12 without any problems.

Copy your TS2010 local folder to the 2012 Local folder. Takes an hour

That is for Non-bulit-in assets. For the Add-ons/TS2010. Copy the .ja files over to the TS12 built-in folder. After the files have copied put in the serial numbers for any addons in the options menu.

I love it, they tease us with the Y6b on the launcher screen since TS2009 and they only include it NOW, in TS12. And i also love how only four months ago i got TS2010. That was bad timing on my part, i admit that, but confound it all, this is ridiculous.

My venting over, I think i'll stay with TS10 for now. Just getting used to it, too many half-completed routes that i would need to pack up and move--AGAIN. And i couldn't lose Avery-Drexel, the PO&N, Harbor Master, and the like. I'm finally getting comfortable with it, and i think I'll keep it. still could do without the speed trash, though:hehe:

I know it is not worth much but here is my opinion of what I see so far. Of all the images posted so far, I see only one tree that looks anywhere even close to realistic and that is the cactus (or joshua tree). I am 66 years old and have traveled the world. I have never seen a tree that looked anywhere close to any of those things in TRS 2012. Yea I know, opinions are like A--holes. We all have one and they all stink.

Nice looking screen shots everyone.

IMO, 90% of these screen shots could have been done with TRS 2004 or 2006. I don't see anything jumping out that would suggest this was done on a brand new version.

well those draw distances cant happen in TRS04 or 06, as well as the high res ground textures, the trees, the trains, the tracks, the signals... the list of items in the scsreenshots that are simply impossible in those versions is pretty large.

TS2010 has the same high res textures, just a shame that many users don't seem to know they have them. They keep using the same 04 stuff & not running TS2010 to its true potential. Am sure the same will be true of TS2012.

Why would i want to cheat,I took them with the same hardware and settings after the topic came up on this thread,I still got TRS2004 and TRS2006 running on this machine, hopefully this will clear things up,I am comparing stock built in game content. How else could you compare? I think 2010 is contrasty, but it looks to me like they've pushed the unreal slider too far in this version.

Are any alpha trees available in 12? Alot of those trees pictured don't have one ounce of realism in them.

Well owning 2006 as well as 2010 the realism in trees just between those two versions is staggering. What I see of the screenshots of 2012 (which I will own in about a week and a half) seems to have taken that up a notch.

I can't think of any Content that would run in 2006 that would even come close to native mode 2010 content. So to speak of "realism" when you only have 2006 as a benchmark seems a little bit facetious…

mrsci. Ok. So using that as a bench mark from 2006.

From what I see, the alpha foliage merges alot smoother together and the texturing of the trees gives alot more depth. Whereas the speedtrees look very cartoonish and out of proportion. Although they are still very much in their infancy.

Thats largely because the ability to create realistic tree's is still in the learning process. Modeling is not yet a science, there is a lot that is very difficult to model, like Tree's, grass, bushes, water, and fire. Now, for someone like Industrial Light and Magic, they have the resources, skills, and experience to create realistic items for movies.

You have to remember, Trainz content is largely third party, whats in the game is created by many of the users themselves. They are not Industrial Light and Magic.

Daniel, that is unfair, was that layout built-into 06?? Because the 12 routes are built-in. The only true compariscant is if you choose a new route created in 06 built-in to a 12 route with only built-in content on each

You all say very true things. And without those content creators there would be no 12".

Just the alpha trees being over ruled by speedtrees seems like a draw back, espesially on routes like EK3 which loose their "feel" without the alphas.

I just don't understand the forcing of speed trees. It seems people would be happier having a choice of trees, as opposed to being forced to use those hideous things. Some people like them, some don't, but for those of us who don't, and there is a lot of us, it is a deterring factor in our decision on whether or not to purchase new versions. Luckily in 2010 I can run functionality mode and enjoy good looking trees.

Is there a feature in 12 that doesn't allow you to disable the Triffids? I don't have 12, so I don't know, but I assume you aren't exactly forced to use them. Some users were pretty vocal calling for inclusion of Speedtrees in future versions, but they may have been deceived into believing the results would be more pleasant by what they witnessed in other games.

I understand some members have made more attractive versions of Triffid Trees, but I personally have no use for any of them. They just frighten me.

Best to stay out of this, but wanted to comment on Motorbreath's comment: All I will say is in an ironic tone, "I agree now".

This song and dance on Billboard vs SpeedTree, Freeware versus Payware Scenery, People trying to get me out of the equation of 3D Vegetation ( Pofig and Jankvis for their own benefit ), discredit my hard efforts, and unwarranted attacks just got to me to even care to work harder to give people a better experience in Speedtree except for one person besides myself: GAWPO50 if still warranted.

I vowel to make sure if new content is requested by GAWPO50 to put all other SpeedTree Content to shame.

How high can hert’s aircraft fly? Given enough altitude TriffidTrees might look a little more realistic, or perhaps they might not.

Maybe that’s why Satellite view has been introduced!:D

The carriage interior in post #92 looks really good though. That's a great improvement on any internal view I've yet seen.

You can put the aircraft as high as track can go. That is the limitation in 2010 as you cannot put them above camera height.

Hallo @ all,

I want to make a big compliment to the route creators who made the routes for TS12. I enjoy playing with it very much!

Its also nice to see people are playing with my city route (Municipal Transit Railway). :)

About the air plane: I arranged the invisible track not too high above ground just to provide a nice view from the airplane down to the city. Also the airplane just runs a shord circle.

There is a PCC "EXTRA CAR" waiting at the West Town Depot. You will find the depot if you follow the streetcar track or the railroad mainline westward. This car has nothing to do while the others are involved into each of the sessions. So you could jump into that PCC to explore the streetcar network to see hwo the city look from there.

Apparently trees in Trainz is largely a matter of taste. As for me, I consider Trainz a railroad sim, NOT a forest sim. But then some Trainzers prefer purple road bed. Go figure.

motorbreath
April 16th, 2011, 01:12 PM
I agree that it is a train sim and not a forest sim, but some people also like the trains' surroundings to look as good as the trains. If it were not for that, I would simply lay tracks to operate on and slap a green texture on the whole thing and call it good.

The only two glaring things to me at first glance:

I love it, they tease us with the Y6b on the launcher screen since TS2009 and they only include it NOW, in TS12. And i also love how only four months ago i got TS2010. That was bad timing on my part, i admit that, but confound it all, this is ridiculous.

I have a couple routes that i plan on releasing, so i'll wait at least until they're done (which should hopefully be some time in early summer) I like all the JR content, and i don't think moving everything over that i want from TS2010 would be that hard. It's just a matter of time and effort. anyway, this thread is kinda making me want it now...just like the TS2010 thread did. oh boy, here we go again:o

Agreed. I just bought 2010 the other day, mostly to see how everything runs on the new computer, and actually, I was surprised how well 2010 runs.

I had a left over voucher for 2010, so it was cheap. Its got everything I could ever want in it already. When 12 is down in price, and the first few service packs come out, then I'll buy it and enjoy the new multiplayer feature. I only plan on waiting a few months, so hopefully 13 (or whatever the next one is going to be called) will not be out yet, and more multiplayer sessions and users will be around.

very glad that both those engines are stored under cover. They are basically operational, and would require little work to get going. And their stored in such a way, they will remain in good shape for a long time to come

as for 614, she was sidelined when Ross Roland died. I want to say that was in the late '90s. they tried to auction it off a few years ago but it didn't sell. It's been in New Jersey for nearly a decade until just recently when Norfolk Southern towed it to Roanoke (the move was well documented on RRpictures.net) for display at the VTR. You probably got there right after the engine arrived, and they hadn't had a chance to put the main and eccentric rods back on (for obvious reasons they had to be removed so NS could tow her). I know from shots of a recent Lerro Productions Photo Charter on RRP.net (can you tell i like lurking er hanging out there:hehe:) that her rods are all back on.

just some FYI.

Geez, Dont let Ross Rowland know he died otherwise he might not finish this.

In early 2011 Ross announced the planned restoration and operation of the Greenbrier Express (http://www.pottsmerc.com/articles/2011/02/20/news/doc4d61e415a10f5821450817.txt?viewmode=default), a luxury train set to operate from Washington, D.C. to the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulpher Springs, WV. The train is being rebuilt in Pottstown, PA.

And the 614 may LOOK runnable, but it's far from the case. It needs over half a million dollars in work to get it running again. Boiler needs to be re-worked and a bunch of other stuff. Don't get your hopes up of seeing it running anytime soon.

From what I´ve heard at N&W historical society, the J might run again at some point, but the A probably will never run again,as it would need over twice as much money as the J to make it runable again.

I was in Roanoke on 16th of january and found the 614 idling at the Roanoke shops.
Here are some pictures I took that great day.

When did Rossw die, he just announced the first of the year about the Greenbrier Express. And yes the pictures that Isegrinns posted are from a day or two after it arrived. I got pictures of it sitting in the same spot the day it got there. It arrived in Roanoke early in Feb. and is planned to move to the C&O Heritage Center in early May.

Hallo walter36,

I see you enjoy very much playing with my Milwaukee Road Avery - Drexel at TS12. I take this as a great compliment considering, that TS12 has contains a lot of nice stuff – the Mojav Subdivision for instance.

I did not move over my Milwaukee Road content to TS12 jet, but if I look at your very nice screens I want to hurry to do so :-)
Also it pushes me up to get further more versions of the Little Joe done as well as to finish all my other Milwaukee Road content.

Hello Tume,

Avery - Drexel is an amazing route, one I am sure you are truly proud of. I can lose many hours in that route as well. Its always on my favorite list. I find it runs a lot better for me in Trainz 2012 as well, like most routes. Definitely a marked improvement on frame rates in the new version of Trainz.

@ Walt - You sure putting up some really nice screenshots.

Purple ballast again? You might want to look in to getting a new monitor. And, the color I used is so unreal that its what the real route has. I'd certainly check your monitor though, nobody but you has called it purple over and over to everyone else's confusion. It looks gray to me on every computer I've ever tested them on.

i went to find what color i used to color the ballast.

it was RGB 141,133,143 which is gray/grey, but IS in the 'purple' hue. its so far into gray though... i dont know. its what i did to match it to the images i had of the area.

i guess i could desaturate it all the way, i just never saw it as purple, just a cool gray.

Most of the screens show the ballast as gray, some appear to display a purplish hue, but I believe it's going to depend on what "time of day" in the game the picture is taken. Of course it can't be forgotten that we all interpret colors differently to an extent, and no one is immune from color blindness as we age either.

norfolksouthern37
May 3rd, 2011, 02:58 PM
well, i will seriously consider the colors and consult with some team members. if it gets changed ill include it with the next patch.

Dermmy
May 3rd, 2011, 03:42 PM
...
it was RGB 141,133,143...

Just bump the green to 141. As it stands the red and blue (even slightly higher than the green) will always give it a purplish cast. It just has to - blue + red in equal quantities = purple.

Bumping the green up to the same count as the red will give almost the same 'color' as you have but make it a definite cool blue-grey with no hint of the 'purple' that seems to upset so many people...

Andy ;)
