AH....I just checked and do not see any Trainz simulator in the app store except for the Ipad.

Can you please provide a link?

There probably won't be one (At least not without a major interface design). The newest iPhone has pretty similar horsepower to the iPad, but with such a small screen size the current interface just wouldn't work very well.

I would like to see a Trainz App for iPhone/iPod Touch. I have tried to download the iPad Trainz App onto my iPod Touch 3G, but to no avail, it said it was "Only available for iPad." So I painfully repeated this again twice -- but I got nothing. Auran is one of my most respected and (if not my MOST) favorite company out there. I am esctatically waiting for a Trainz App for iPhone/iPod Touch.

Well if you just scan the forums it is clear that MOST trainzers are still running Trainz 2004 on pentium II's so I am sure N3V figures, why invest the time and effort...:hehe:

I think a good Trainz app might be to map out custom layouts, or perhaps something akin to Train Dispatcher 3 but on Trainz layout trackplans. That might work well on an iPod.

I don't know if its out there, but a nice 3D Google Earth app that locates railroad ROW's would be good, too. Then I could look up that rail line I just saw while driving and figure out who it is/was.

Listen Trainzmen, I think you need to know the defenition of the iPad and the iPhone, and the iPod.
The iPad is a tablet computer. The iPad has a screen that's about as big as that of a small laptop, so it's easy to run Trainz on that.
The iPhone is a "smartphone" so it's not really desgined to go and run big apps.
The iPod is an MP3 player, and I don't think that Apple makes any apps for it.
Besides how could you operate locomotive controls on a screen only about 2" x 4"?
Please, the iPad and the iPhone are NOT tablet computers.

You're wrong there; I've got an iPod Touch and Apple makes loads of apps for it. Trainz isn't one of them for a very good reason:

Besides how could you operate locomotive controls on a screen only about 2" x 4"?

So true. Such a small screen is suitable for arcade and puzzle games, not a simulator that requires visible controls. The controls would need to be big enough for fingers to easily operate, which would mean less screen to see the train, which would result in a waste-of-money app. It would be far too difficult to run Trainz on a 2" x 4" touch screen.

I'm trying to decide if this thread has been purposefully ironic all day today, or if I'm the only one that read yesterday's (April 1st, admittably) newsletter where they list Trainz and My First Trainz Set as coming in April for iPhone 4, iPad and Android.

If it's just purposeful irony, carry on.

Well I received my newsletter today on the 6th, so we willl have to wait and see.
If it was meant as a fools idea, then they sent it out too late. If it is real, then I will get it.
I'm always cautious about stuff on the 1st April.

Ipad for Trainz is now priced at US $0.99 at the ITunes store.

From the Trainz for Ipad release in December, 2010, the selling price has dropped.

Why would N3V invest any more time and money into a product that has virtually no ability to sustain profitability?

Have fun,
