Coming soon ...

Hi to all,
Where can I download the "East Kentucky" with the vegetation of pofig?

Thanks

As Pofig says - coming soon with a joint release at Checkrail and TrainzUp. The route is stuck in Beta trying to get assets that were error-free in 10 to work in 12.

Soon...

Ok - once again for the slow ones!! Is the Pofig EK3 route that is "coming soon" for 2010 or 2012?

Maybe someday I'll get this 2010, 2012, Speed Freakz, billboards, Trunda stuff straightened out, but for now just this one simple answer will do.

My eternal thanks for even the smallest of favors.

As far as I understand this, Dermmy and Pofig are updating the existing EK3 to an improved version with Pofigs trees. And this version is coming soon, as Andy pointed out above.

You can tell it from the screenshots which trees are used; the fully 3d ones are from Pofig (seen in drstrachs screenshots) and the other not-really-totally-3d trees (like in my screenshots) are referred to as "billboard trees" and those are the ones used on the first version which is already released on Andys webside.

I hope this helps a bit.

It helps a bit. Just one more Q to finish up here. Is the Dermmy-Pofig Joint Venture a 2010 or 2012 project?

I have Dermmy's EK3 with Trunda's billboard trees and shrubs, and it's going to take a lot to do better than that. That's why I want to try the new joint venture release out in 2010 so I can see for myself. I don't have 2012, neither do I ever see myself buying it, so if it's a 2012 project I'll never know.

Andy. I think you should reinstall the TS12. I have no problem with the transfer route in TS12 and no problems with the content. I downloaded all the updates from the DS and I have no errors. Several appendices show warning but they work.

Thanks Stan - this is getting strange. I have testers who can get no trees to appear on the map in TS12 and who can find no 'EK' trees in any current TrainzUp download. I have 'EK' trees but despite downloading and installing all current TrainzUp files (overwrite all) I appear to still have the original TS10 versions, not the updates. I thought there might be some packing confusion with the content, but Pofig assures me all is well and your results indicate he is correct.

Why the content appears in some TS12 installations and not in others is a mystery...

Andy

Probably a completely stupid question but in surveyor or driver mode? TS12 has some terrible memory problems with speedtrees in surveyor.

drstrach
May 29th, 2011, 09:48 AM
I run the map in both modes, but adding a few SpeedTreez causes the disappearance of trees, helping restart of the map, though it is quite cumbersome.
Shall wait for patch, again.

Stan

Andy, downloaded files must unpack and install only one. Then delete the files before unpacking the next archive.. Files in the CDP in the archives have the same name. When unpacking all archives at once, some files will be replaced.

Trees are a series of EK, archive ST8

No need to delete anything. You have the dependencies, or at least some of them. For the ones showing missing sub-dependencies (the yellow '?' puzzle piece) just drag them into the download window to get the DLS stuff, everything else is listed on the checkrail download page...

From the page that I looked at. The GTX is slightly better than the GT.

BTW, Does the EK3 versions 1.1 work for Trainz 2010? I am planning to use the EK3 route as my test route for how powerful my PC will perform as I believe it is one of the highly detailed routes.

BTW, Does the EK3 versions 1.1 work for Trainz 2010?

It was built in TS2010. It looks best in 'Compatibility Mode' though, which won't be a fair test of your computer. The machine will run better in 'Native Mode', but you will have transparency problems with the alpha trees.

A better test of your rig would be to get the SpeedTrees version and run it in 'Native'. Or get both...

First let me say that EK3 is my favorite route. Andy, you did a fantastic job asn set a high standard for others to follow.

As was others, I was having a problem with AI trains diasppearing due to derailments. I finally witnessed a AI train derailment at Leatherwood. I had a train with two engines and 20 cars go from Lwood Arrival 3-4 to Bin 4 to load coal and it derailed. I ran it again and it derailed again when the last two cars passed switch LW_12 and the switch reverted to its default position under the train. Since Leatherwood has very complex track it would be hard to troubleshoot the problem here. I looked for another derailment location.

I found a site at Tilford 2. My AI test train was one engine and 10 hoppers. It ran from switch TF_04 to Tilford2_Track1. Every time it would derail as the last two cars passed TF_05 and that switch would change to its default postion under the train. I changed engines, cars and drivers and it still derailed. Using the Replace Assets tool I tried several different tracks, including built-in Auran track, and it still derailed. I deleted and replaced track around TF_05 but no change. I added, deleted and changed signals with no luck. As a last resort I deleted EK3 and got a fresh download of the route but still had the same problem.

I decided to remove all assets connected to that section of track. One by one I disconnected TF_06, bypassed Bin 1 and disconnected TF_08 at the other en of the yard. All that was left was a stub ended track with a bunch of splines and I still got derailments. I then replaced splines one at a time and FINALLY found the problem. The curved spline that ran from TF_06 to the straight spline of track 1 was defective. Once I replaced this spline there were no more derailments.

I went back to the original EK3 route and checked this spline. The spline joints checked OK. With the Split Spline tool I disconnected that spline and then reconnected it but still got derailments. It was only when I deleted this spline and then replaced it did the derailments stop.

In this troubleshooting process I noted that there was another derailment problem at the other end of Tilford 2 at TF_09. By replacing splines one at a time I found the defective spline on track 1 as the curved spline from TF_08 to the spline where the two dwarf signals are.

The one thing that these two problems have in common is that both defective splines are at the FIRST spline past the FIRST diverging switch past the derailment switch. This may be significant.

I have no Knowledge of code and therefore can go no farther in troubleshooting this derailment problem. But Andy, if you and your tech friends could look specifically at these two defective splines and determine why they are bad, it would be a boon to everybody and sure help solve other problems.

With the knowledge I had gained I went back to Leatherwood to see what I could do there. I replaced all of the track from LW_12 to the spline just before LW_08B but still got derailments. But I did find that a train with two engines and 18 cars would pass OK but the same train with 19 cars would derail. With the 19 car train the engines had entered the interlocking at the other end of the yard. So I replaced all track from LW_08B to S9.9E5. You have to be careful because of the complexity of the trackwork. I don't know which spline in this group was defective but that took care of the problem and trains now run to Bin 4 without derailing. But that just goes to show how far away the problem spline can be from the derailment site.

I hope my troubleshooting adventures have shed some light on the derailment problems. I will let others take it from here to find some solutions.

Ahhh - the old 10345 problem! Kill it off with 'Delete Missing Assets' but its presence tells me that you have cloned the route! And that's where this gets really weird. Here's the full story:

The route is DEM based via HOG. HOG paints broad texture lines on the route to mark the location of road/rail/rivers etc. Even after the HOG textures are painted over they remain underneath the visible textures and absolutely definitely have a detrimental effect on performance. I delete them by using a texture I call 'HOG Killer', <kuid:203465:10345>. Hog Killer is used to 'Replace Assets' for all the HOG textures, then it is deleted from CM, the route is loaded and 'Delete Missing Content' gets rid of the 'sacrificial texture' from both the route and the config. But if you clone the route the unused texture pops up in the config. I call that a bug...

Andy :)

Ive been train simming more than 4 years now in the MSTS community and I switch over to Trainz just this past week and I have to say. Out of all the years I have been train simming. I have never seen such a great route when it comes to detail. Thank you for creating such a great looking route. Here is a single shot of my run.

BTW, I will be posting my other 10 shots that I took over on the US thread.

If you think that is great, try downloading the speed tree version, it is even better!

The bridge itself would be fine, but the abutments might be a bit too modern looking for the '50s. Something like this might be better (re posted from a few pages back)...

Agreed Andy. I live in Pennsylvania and I see trees everytime I open a door or window. Here in PA we're up to our arsses in trees, and I have yet to see a tree that looks like any Speed Tree I've ever seen.

Pennsylvania was named what it was because it means Penn's Woods, and I can guarantee you that if William Penn had seen any trees that looked like Speed Trees he would have named the state Disneyvania.

(A bit before Disney's time, but the word play works)

Actually Jamie in the sense Kon means I think it is an 'update', not sure though if I would say 'quick'! The basic EK3ST route is identical to the original EK3. Same trackwork, same loadouts, same everything except Pofig has created a great number of entirely new trees just for the route. While it is still fundamentally a 'replace asset' version of EK3 there is truly a lot more to it than that...

Andy,
I had the developer settings turned on in driver last night. I use the original EK3 with the billboard type tree replaced by speedtree. 17331 instances of speed tree was the top figure recorded.

Dermmy,

I decided to take run on the EK3 for the first time since I upgraded to TS2010 and installed all my old content including EK3. Looks like I'm missing this bridge in a few places. Of course CM doesn't report it or anything other assets missing.

Any idea what it is? Thanks.

Copy/paste from the checkrail download page:

Missing Bridges. You show no missing content, but there are dashed white lines where there should obviously be bridges? A very simple config fix will resolve this problem: Locate the assets <Kuid:46819:38129> and <Kuid:46819:38132> in Content Manager. Open for Edit (Ctrl+Shift+E). Double click config.txt. Locate and delete the line 'name', easiest way is to place the cursor at the beginning of the next line and backspace till 'name' is gone. Save and close config.txt. Close the Edit window. Commit the assets (Ctrl+M). Should be good to go...

Andy :)

 The bridges in question are build 1.3, therefore the config.txt file does not have a mesh container...before 2.4, the asset was lucky to have a config.txt file!

You can open them in Content Creator Plus for updating, delete all the entries with an X-box to the right (they are empty anyway).

RMB on the folder icon and select 'add a mesh'. Name it: default. LMB on the square box next to the empty entry pane & the folder will open, select the .im mesh.

While the folder was opened I added a thumbnail from the TS....\User Data\cache\thumbnails Folder for easy reference, saving as a $screenshot$. I added the thumbnail container in CCP.

The bridges show, but the lack of a direct reference to the mesh will eventually prevent it from appearing.

I had a problem last night with the Proto Clinch Elkhorn Extension route with a (another) bridge missing it's mesh, this issue reminded me to fix it...I have had the problem before, so this is how I fixed it.

The manual levers are 185550:28037 and 28038, both on the DLS. CM 3.3 couldn't find them, the black pages showed no such beast on the first try, but they turned up in a black page search for just 18550

The electric levers are 67906:24166 which are built-in in TS10 and I assume also in TS12, if not they will be TS12-only DLS content. They are region 'UK', if you have disabled non-US stuff that will be the problem!

Crossings used are pretty much all Weevil's and Maddy's YARN content, none of which have separate crossing boards. Can you post a screenshot where you are missing something?

OK - you are missing DLS assets:

One of the missing crossings is 9000:61044 click here (https://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_viewasset.php?AssetID=49790) for the DLS page. If you click on the 'View Pack' link and get the lot that will cover 95% of the crossings on the route!

The missing trackside spline is 328583:20251 click here (https://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS_viewasset.php?AssetID=159480) for the DLS page.

That should get you going...

Dermmy,

I have recently built a new PC, as I had a massive HDD failure back a few months back. Now that winter is settling in I have more time to sit at home and run some Trainz. Woot!

After reinstalling your wonderful route and downloading most everything I'm finding a few .cdps missing and bad links in the EK3 Sessions page:

<kuid2:98966:1546234:1> 52' Bulkhead Flat US Steel from USLW - click here (http://www.uslw.net/downloads.php?action=view&id=73) Trucks are here (http://www.uslw.net/downloads.php?action=view&id=159).

<kuid:113556:277711> CSX SD40-2 from West Coast Trains - click here (http://esporbust.com/trs-2006.html).

<kuid:113556:858101> NS SD40-2 from West Coast Trains - click here (http://esporbust.com/trs-2006.html) .

I was wondering if you could post some links where these could be found? It sure would be appreciated. I'm still in process and let you know if I find any more bad links.

Thanks and great pics all!

The USLW stuff is a bit harder. that site is undergoing a major overhaul which seems to have stalled while whoever is doing it has the rest of his/her life. The site WILL be back at some stage, but again with all new links. Not so much I can do to help with that stuff atm...

They are still the locos for the Russian session plus one dependency thereof, and they are still on the page linked to above. Check 'Open For Edit' in CM and see if they haven't hung there. Another thing to check is that many Russian cdp's need to be re-named before they will install, check the cdp name for any Cyrillic or other 'illegal' characters and re-name before installing if necessary. Any name will do...

Hi Andy,
Just got TRS 2010 a few weeks ago and EK 3 was my first Imported route.I am missing one measly piece of content, and now I am wondering if you can help? Oops typo :(

203465:10621 is the correct asset, 103621 does not exist. Web page updated, though the link from 103621 always pointed to the right place.

Let me know if your problem persists...

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the help yesterday! Sadly,I need more today. I now have no missing dependencies and nothing is listed as being faulty. EK 3 will not show up in my Routes list. The route is not open for edit, and I have opened it and re-commited. Any ideas as to why this could be? I would love to open it up and run Trainz, but I'm not there yet.Thanks.........Randy

OK - two things that come to mind:

I assume you are in TS10 and not 04 or 06.

In TS10 is the gold star for 'Favourites' at the top of the 'Routes' screen toggled off?

The Russian wagons have vanished. I have posted in the Russian sub-forum and also PM'd a couple of Russian friends all to no avail. The creator's email is bouncing.

I have seriously considered taking the session down -or- temporarily making the content available from checkrail. In general Russian routes and sessions come packed with all non-DLS content so that may well be the solution.

Give me 24 hours...

Hello!
I know, long time no hear. First, some hacker destroyed my Windows system, and I didn't want to buy another license for Windows Vista. Now I am on a Mac Mini. I downloaded EK3ST and played the session with US content. There are a few flaws there:
On the westbound trip the train uses the eastbound mainline track in Jeff yard. Could be repaired by an additional track mark and the corresponding driver command.
On the eastbound trip first the train got stuck because a three-headed signal at a trailing end of a junction didn't know what to do; clicking on the signal told me it was in an unknown state. Finally I opened its property page and turned restrictive mode on. Then the train got moving. Wouldn't a one-headed signal have done?
At the end the train went through Daisy Tipple and loaded there - another missing track mark command. At Beechfork Tipple it didn't have to load and started on the next eastbound trip pushing the train; you forgot to insert a runaround command somewhere at the end of your command chain.
All in all, it's a grand route, and I am waiting for EK4 now.
I shall correct these things in my computer and then try to satisfy the other waybill request where Leatherwood needs Diesel fuel.

I would like to know whether anybody else has met with the same problems.

Dralex

Hi Drelex - sorry to hear about your computer mishaps.

To the best of my recollection no-one has complained of these issues previously. The sessions were tested to death in TS10 and pretty sure in TS12 also. All thee issues are easy fixes and they would have been fixed had they shown up. The sessions were not tested on a Mac: Trainz for Mac is a new innovation since the route was released. I have also had a report of an issue with a Clovis session in a Mac where there is no issue in other Trainz versions.

While there may be a need for additional driver commands but there should be no need for additional trackmarks to make the AI hold the main, every main line loop has a TM at least at both ends - unless I missed one! But generally a single command to the near end of the loop takes the AI through the required road.

Not sure which triple-head caused you grief, but whichever it was triple-heads are only used on multiple-lever interlockings so a one-head would not really be correct. Again none of the Interlocking Signals cause issues in other Trainz versions, but these signals are scripted so there could possibly be a Mac v script issue, though I lack the technical expertise to really comment on that one way or the other...

Andy

Thank you for your quick response. The issue of trains using the wrong track is well known and due to the fact that the Artificial Incompetence always tries to find the shortest way (as the crow flies) between two points. And when there is a long bend between the train may well (and evidently does) use the wrong track because it is the shortest route. That is why additional driver commands are certainly necessary (and even recommended) in such cases. I will of course use the trackmarks that are already there for this purpose.
The signal that caused me grief is S240.9E, right between trackmark EKPower_EastLead_Long and junction EKP_01 (should have told you that before, mea culpa). After browsing the WWW for American signalling practices, particularly at http://www.lundsten.dk/us_signaling/signalbasics/, I think that this junction does not need a three-head, as the next facing junction is HZ33B, which is already protected by three-headed S241.4E. If this signal were not there, then S240.9E has to be indeed three-headed.
What does the option 'allow restrictive aspect' mean? It is off at the signal in question, and there might indeed be a difference in the reaction of a Windows and of a Mac PC. I think I better get me the Clovis route and its sessions and try to reproduct this problem.
If you want anything tested on a Mac I'll be happy to do it for you.

Greetings,

Dralex

For the 'missing' bridges there is a fix on the checkrail download page, but to save you going back simply remove the

line from the bridge configs. If you need the bridge kuids you will need to refer to the download page. Be sure to remove the entire line including (invisible) spaces.

For the bogie issues what kuid(s) are reported missing?

There is a blank 'name' tag in the original config that causes the no-show. The suspect assets are <Kuid:46819:38129> and <Kuid:46819:38132>. I haven't done a full config check on your edit, but if it's still no-show either you have deleted something in addition to the blank 'name' tag - or - the edited asset is still under the 'Open For Edit' tab in which case Trainz will continue to load the un-fixed version, that being the last version committed. If it is hung up in Open For Edit, highlight it then Ctrl+M...

I was very pleased, when EK3-ST turned up again on checkrail. The screenshots are just awe-inspiring. But, it has left me with a few 'unknown' assets.

This is by idiotbuoy - a dependency of PL JohnDeere,<kuid2:30671:27388:1> - but I haven't been able to track it down.
Unknown Location: <kuid2:30671:27375:2>
Unknown Location: <kuid2:30671:27383:1>
Unknown Location: <kuid2:30671:27384:1>
These three are part of ProtoLARS MegaPack 1.1 (http://trainzproroutes.org/tprdownloads/index.php?act=view&id=486) (actually, <kuid2:30671:27375:1> is listed as belonging to the pack and not <kuid2:30671:27375:2>), but I have no idea how to unpack the .man file, I downloaded. Any ideas about this?
Never mind. I found a direct link to the ProtoLARS assets on the EK3 page. Both route and sessions now show up as having no unknown dependencies, despite the still missing <kuid2:50567:12644:2>. I suppose everything is OK then. Thank you Andi for sharing this magnificent route with us! :Y:

No, I suppose not, but I thought PL JohnDeere,<kuid2:30671:27388:1> was. On the EK3-ST page it said to download <kuid2:30671:273***:*>, so I did (I didn't realize it was a direct link to the three <kuid2:30671:273***:*> assets. :o I thought it would send me off to the TPR site to search for the assets like the other three TPR links :o:o). And <kuid2:30671:27388:1> turned out to have a missing dependency. But, I've since then deleted <kuid2:30671:27388:1> again and both route and sessions are still OK, so all is fine. :)

That worn bit of grass around the gantry base is top class. Subtle, but totally convincing as is the rest of the image.

Thanks Casper, thanks Roy! The grass is mostly spline by tram__ (on the DLS but tricky to search, there are TWO underscores after the name) with a sprinkling of Trunda's grass objects. It's a JVC mesh with textures by Trunda. It is in the JVC(T**) series with quite a few colour, width and height variations. There are two sets: one has transparency issues in Comp Mode so make sure you are using the appropriate set for your version of Trainz. In Comp Mode it blends almost perfectly with Trunda's grass objects - same textures, so it would, wouldn't it...

I just looked at your homepage. There you say that you are developing EK4 on TS2010, comp mode. You have an EK3 version in TS2010, native mode, which runs just fine on my MacMini. You also said that the conversion to native mode was mainly replacing those ugly speed trees with Pofig's trees. Could you do this with EK4 as well - once you have released EK4, of course?

On some routes I prefer SpeedTrees. On some routes I prefer older style trees. With SpeedTrees limiter shortens view. SpeedTree LOD lacks bulk. Distant trees are too sparse.

Pofig I was happy that you did EK3_ST. If you wish to do EK4_ST I will be happy also! Of all the SpeedTrees I like Pofig trees best. I use no others. On this route I like appearance of old trees better.

Wow, what a comparison. I enjoy the older trees much more as well. Friendlier on the computer and they look so much better. I hate any speedtree style of tree, the EK3_ST shot just looks like it has plastic trees on it. The bottom shot is much, much more realistic. As someone who frequents eastern Kentucky, I can say that is spot on.

I didn't go through every single one, but the ones I checked out are all under the huge "Non-DLS Content - You NEED this Stuff" header before you even get to the route download link...

The 370528 content is 404-ing, I will pay that one.

The rest is definitely linked from the checkrail download page, I suspect you missed the first three links. Pofig trees and track....

EDIT - Thanks Jamie - simupost :)

Thats because Trunda's site has shut down, now hosted here http://archiv.trainzdepot.net/infusions/pro_download_panel/search.php?stext=71619%253A

THE 71619 content link doesnt work

Copy/pasted from the checkrail download page, immediately below 71619 Content:

"There appears to be a problem with Trunda's site and the two links below are unavailable. Click here for a temporary pack containing all the Trunda content used on the route."

.....

EDIT: OK, I'll pay that as a broken link! I put up a temp pack for the original EK3, but I'm guessing you are chasing the few pieces of Trunda content that survived onto EK3ST? If so grab the stuff from the EK3 page, you will get more than you need, but at least it gets you fixed! I will sort out links to trainzdepot asap...

Trunda content links for both versions of the route now updated to point to the new trainzdepot page (http://archiv.trainzdepot.net/infusions/pro_download_panel/search.php?stext=71619%253A).....

These trees are made almost two years ago. They are not in the public domain. They are made after the license violation. Seventh and ninth row.

Real shame that pity you weren't around when folks were trying to tell you that your content was being cloned by your fellow countrymen, EK was and is still my best route in this game and your version of it Pofig will have to do me till you either change your mind or sum one else make's sum foliage that is as good as your's. May as well throw a screenie up whilst i'm here.

This is Hazard Yard, with a little modification. Not completely accurate, but I liked it. This is my favorite and most used route, so I just make little "personal favorite" enhancements as the notion strikes. :D
