LOL...the grass is "erba verde 3" by Roberto Conti. I just placed a lot of them...sunk them into the ground then just copy and paste to fill in more area.

This yard is to scale and up-to-date. The yard is Toton Yard in Nottingham, UK, but I need to make another copy and put the old steam sheds and turntables in.

What a fabulous idea for a thread. I could spend my life waffling around my screenshots of yards what with the number of them on my layout... Added two 15ish track yards on the layout last week!
How's about just one with both yard in:
http://www.smokefilledroom.co.uk/Gregsworld/Files/trainz/scrennies/Screen_119.jpg
This is a shot from my Sheffield layout with two yards situated in the centre of the city. To the left is City Goods station, closed in 1965 and to the right is Park Goods station, closed in 1963. Both were linked to a railway line linking Cleethorpes in the English East coast to Manchester, on the other side, to the West. Both yards have the particularity of being perched up on red brick and limestone structures as the main line they were connected to had to go over other railway lines and a gradient to access the yards were not an option.
As Escafeld blessed us with a shot of Toton Yard in the English Midlands, I'll have to show its slightly Northern counterpart of Tinsley once I get a session going.
Enjoy,
Gre

Well this one is quite small. Its a small yard on my new fictional British route. It's filled with some assorted freight and a hydraulic shunter.
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o215/headshot320/haddingtonyard.jpg
Well as promised here's the shot of it after completion of surrounding areas. After I did a little shunting I found I needed some more space so i've changed things a little.
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o215/headshot320/haddingtonyardnew.jpg
Well it still wasn't big enough s here's the latest version.
A class 66 Freightliner waits for a hydraulic shunter nicknamed "reg" to ready the days first load of boxcars to be shipped to the freight yard at (unnamed place.)

Mine is not much of a "railyard" its more of a switch job, really.
Time: 8:50am Before I set out to do a short passenger-scenic run, my S4 had to clear off the main tracks of two boxcars that were left there. The line is used only for Scenic Trains, so the boxcars didn't pose a problem overnight.

I'll post a few.
Heres my recreation of CSX Dewitt Yard in East Syracuse.
Im working on it slowly a bit every few weeks. This is one Im revamping from my original one which I accidently put on a HOG map.

http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r96/conrailman/old.jpg
Sucky huh?
Just for some history...
Dewitt Yard was built in 1906 by NYC. From 1903 to sometime in the 50-60 it was controled NYC. Then Conrail (Consolidated Rail Corperation) bought the Yard and revamped it.
From then to 1990 I think they owned it. Then in 1990 CSX bought the Yard.
Really what happened was CSX/Conrail/NS merged and CSX got this portion of the line. from then to now they own the yard and made signifigant changes to it.
Hopefully I can get an up to date map as the one I got is from 1999. They done a few changes.
Now my other Task same yard only the map from 1906.
Heres a fact. Dewitt Yard was the FIRST to have a completely logical layout!

I'm sorry to have to be the bringer of bad news, but you are working from maps that are not to scale. The maps are condensed in width and there is no way that locos could negotiate the radius of some of those curves. Have a look at the real yard on local.live.com. Type in East Syracuse and use the 3D option. You will also see that the yard has been rationalised (chopped up) and does not contain the amount of track it once did. You will see how much longer the yard should be.
Not enjoyed I'm afraid. :(

Well I see a lot of yards under construction so I don't feel so bad. I'll post some shots of my EBT yards in Rockhill Furnace and Mt Union. It's been a while since I last worked on them maybe I'll find the time to start in again. The EBT in its revenue days was a ng3 coal carrier. The yard in MT Union was mostly dual guage as they interfaced with the PRR and handled a lot of sg hoppers at the EBT's coal processing plant. EBT's switchers No 3 and 6 that worked the yard were sg 0-6-0's.
Here's the track layout and some shots of the MT Union yard:
