Just what is going on with all these incredible screenshots with the amazing clarity and detail? Are you guys using some add-on software, or a 1GB video card or something? You can't tell me this is normal TRS2006 on a mid-size PC. What's the secret?

An oldie, but nothing flasher than TRS04 on an unsupported underspec computer (PIII 540Mhz 256Mb RAM) with a very mid-priced graphics card (can't remember exactly, but an Nvidea with 128Mb) set at 4x AntiAliasing, 8x Anisotropic for the screenie.

alazose,
You probably can't see the performance behind these single frame pictures. There is probably no telling how fast they run. You can get just about any computer (after 1998 maybe) to render a scene like this, but with great performance loss.
Best way to get this clarity:
A) Turn Anti-Aliasing to the max (8x)
B) Turn Anisotropic Filtering to the max (x16)
C) Turn resolution to 1280x1024
D) Turn monitor DPI to 120
E) Turn Mip-Map and Texture Quality up to High
F) Turn Bump Mapping on
G) Adjust the sun color of the layout
H) Add good or bad weather fog
I) Set an early time of day
J) Get a realistic cloud texture (Golden October happens to be my fav)
K) Place lots of grass
L) Place lots of high detail Trees
Follow these and you should have a high quality picture, but with a great performance loss. I'd say for a mid-range system about 8 fps minimum. Maybe less.
Screens from me later!

The grasses asked about in a previous post are the grasses by Roberto Conti. The one shown I believe is "erba verde 3". He has a bunch of them. I don't know his web site. Maybe someone can jump in here.
I got mine by downloading a route that had several of them installed.
gus1911
January 14th, 2007, 01:07 PM
Here's Conti's web site - free downloads. I would suspect the grasses are in the number 7 collection. I can read some of the Italian and that one is the one that makes sense.
I've come to the conclusion that grass puts the final touch on any route. Gotta have grass. Without grass, the route looks "sterile."

Winter shot is on the ¨St-Johnsbury & Lamoille County¨ and the two others are from the ¨Box Butte & Meg's Despair¨...both from George Fisher.

Some shots of my route, this is the only part I've scenicked so far as I'm still working on track and roads, which require the tiger lines that get covered when you texture :D (click on thumbnail for larger pic)

I like the grass on your pictures very much. I have not seen the beautiful sky before and I like it very much too. Can you please tell me where to find it?

Thanks for your answer David and for the sky you have created!
I´ll immediately download the fantastic sky as I find it extremely nice.
I have removed the pictures that I reloaded by mistake.
Cheers,
Håkan
PS!
There were so many nice skyes that I never knew off. I have downloaded a lot of them and it will be very exiting to explore them very soon.
