View Full Version : Amtrak's New High Speed Line Derailment In Washington

December 19th, 2017, 08:17 AM
Yesterday was a tragedy to all rail fans. Amtrak 181 pulling the new Cascades High Speed train derailed at 7:30 AM Pacific Time. I think there was also a brand new Siemens SC-44 Charger on board the train. The NTSB says the train was going 80 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.

79 MPH, and there is already a thread...

It's not a "High Speed Line" track speed is at most 80mph. It's a new routing that cuts travel time in other ways (shorter, less traffic.)

Since there already is a thread on this topic I'm locking this one. Please direct any future comments on the derailment to this thread: https://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?143008-Amtrak-Train-Derails-on-Highway-Bridge-in-Washington-State
