In an old question and answer thread you made the statement that texture-replacement probably wouldn't have the same performance issues under E2 that it had under Jet.

Did this turn out to be the case?

Texture-replacement definitely doesn't have the same cost as it did in Jet, although it's also not free. More specifically: the game is still likely to load up the original texture set, then the replacement texture set- but at least this is a background process now rather than stalling the main thread. Depending on the size of the textures, there can still be some GPU impact as the data is sent across to the GPU.
