I didn't get around to making this one for last week, so it'll go in for this week.

An all to familiar scene for railfans these days.

ARhian7,

That looks really nice, but it does beg the question why a US Union Pacific tender loco is hauling British Railway "Blood & Custard" Mk1 coaches!

Maybe it's a heritage line that's trying to cater for multiple tastes?

No offence. Just kidding. ;)

I really like the artistic composition of you shots. Dependably good!

Peter.

~snip~ That looks really nice, but it does beg the question why a US Union Pacific tender loco is hauling British Railway "Blood & Custard" Mk1 coaches! ~snip~Probably because it's running through the New Forest, Hampshire, (in Southern England), as evidenced by the New Forest ponies:D

Nice shot ARhian7:Y:

 My route is fictitious/imaginery and I like to use what ever takes my fancy. The passenger views in those carriages are very cool, whereas the NZ ones have no views...hence the mix and match. Also that steam train is great so it is added to the route along with the Ka, Ab etc. I do not play by the rules as you can see :D.. I make my own as I go :p

@casper

Thank you Casper.

And I dread to think of the damage it caused to bridges etc.! Obviously it started at Southampton or further west as otherwise it would have got jammed in the tunnel under the parks (probably OK now as they have recently enlarged it to cater for larger containers).

Good thing I didn't go with my first choice, Nunney Castle (5029) with a British Pullman Train to York.

John,

I see what you mean! That UP loco is way outside the height as well as width gauges for British rolling stock!

ARhian7, don't worry, we're only kidding, doing your own thing is fine, of course. ;) In any case, your composition is so good, it doesn't matter what you show, it always looks good (and that's the point isn't it). From my view point, if you show steam then that's even better, European steam even better and if it's British or Irish steam, then (for me) that's absolutely perfect. Others would see it differently and that is entirely the way it should be: unity in diversity!

However, if you really want to see really sumptuous coach interiors, try the (UK-LMS) Duchess (or Coronation) or the (US-CNJ) Blue comet DLCs. All these have a number of locos and a full set of lovely coaches for the trains. Very relaxing and comfy to ride along in!

I keep saying this, but I do wish someone would do part or all of the CNJ route between the outskirts of New York and Atlantic City in the correct period for the Blue Comet as the set really deserves it. I can't do anything because I know nothing of US operating and signalling practice for that or any period. There is a DEM-based basic route on the DLS 0to use for the elevation data.

Peter.

 Yep, steam all the way, nothing like it. The carriages in the screenshot are "BR Stanier TO" (duchess pack I think it is). I was using another sort of carriage initially, but they only had "compartment seating" not the full open length and they felt too claustrophobic and not NZ like at all to go with steam. Thanks for the info on the dlc much appreciated :).
