View Full Version : How-to re-skin resources?

This is one of three questions I'm posting today. I have several things I want to include in my "layout," and I'm doing the preliminary research. That being said...

Is there is FAQ or how-to document out there for how to re-skin items? One of my medium-range goals is to re-color some of my locomotives, cabooses, and passenger coaches to a custom livery color. I've done re-skinning in other games, like the Sims and Morrowind, but I haven't tried it in something like Trainz. The file structure is unlike what I've seen before.

I haven't settled on what colors I'll use. I may actually try different color schemes and see which ones look best in the simulation.

If it matters, I'm using TS2010. The option of upgrading to TS2012 is still open.

Thanks in advance, and keep on 'tracking!

I use PaintShop Pro rather than GIMP but that's a personal choice. Watch out for compressed .TGA fires they must be uncompressed to work in Trainz.

Have fun.
