View Full Version : Saving routes/sessions to CDP

Trying to get ready for my new computer and I don't want to mess things up. I merged all my session layers to route layers and then made the routes into cdp's. I'm assuming that by doing this all my routes should now have all the changes that I've made in the sessions. Am I correct in that assumption? I will then backup all my routes onto a external drive and I should be good to go. Right? Thanks.

It's easy. :)

Go into Content Manager.
Go to your "My Content" tab.

Find the Route and Session, as they'll be listed separately.
Select them both using the Control Key.

Right click, and choose Save to CDP.

Follow the on-screen prompts for file saving and location.

John's advice needs no elaboration from me, but when you write

Trying to get ready for my new computer ... <snippage> ...

My suggestion would be, besides investing in the new computer, invest in one or more external memory devices (thumb drives, SD, or microSD cards). Install Trainz to the external card, and run from that. Yes, it works; I've done it. The advantage is that when there is a problem, or when the time comes to upgrade again, or if you want to use the same route on different computers (at different times), or if you need to back up, it is as easy as moving the external device.
