Yellow, vertical columns-what are they?

I'm a brand new Trainz fan and have a few questions. First, under "object" and I believe "rail", when I click on some items, up pops a yellow, vertical column, rather than what I was seeking. Example, chicken farm; I get a yellow column but can hear the chicks. Next, Industry 1 and 2, church 1 and 2 including church bells, but no church; city 1, but no city, etc. In each case there is the vertical column and sound but not the object I was seeking.

Also, is there a glossary that would spell out the abbreviations found in all the tabs, "rail, object, industry, vehicles, road, etc. Best example I can think of are the descriptions of road intersections where everything seems to be abbreviated, much of it beyond my ken.

Last question please. I clicked on "goods shed" and up popped some track. Never saw a goods shed. Same thing happened with other items, track but no building.
Thanks in advance for the help I'm seeking. pukey

The Columns are just sound effects that you can place next to objects. They will not show up in Driver. The tracks are industries that you set up yourself in Surveyer and place them next to whatever building you want.

Thanks very much ShortFuse. You almost gave me the answer before I posted it!! And, sorry for the duplication of message; my fingers got out of control. pukey

No problem, that happens from time to time. :)

Welcome abouard, pukey! You get many CSX Trains in your neck of the woods? :p

Hi Ferrous: That's all we get down here in Florida. I'm an old railroader and well remember the SAL, ACL, FEC, Southern, GM&O, IC, N&W,Wabash, Nickel Plate and on and on. Worked for the C&NW in Chicago, and yet never played any rail simulations. CSX is an agglomeration of Southern, N&W, B&O, C&O, Clinchfield and more. I'm a real beginner and have lots to learn. And you folks on this Forum have gone out of your way to help someone like me. Thanks. pukey

Southern and N&W? I thought they went to NS.
You are right Ferrous. I overlooked NS taking over Southern and N&W. I also forgot to mention a few other railroads in the area that got swallowed up; L&N, NC&StL, CofGa, etc. Same thing happened out west. If you are or were a railroader you might remember the Official Railway Guide, over 800 pages and most of the pages involved hundreds of railroads. The good old days. Thanks for straightening me out. All the best. pukey
