Would you live in a country without railways?

Then stay away from here! The closest thing we've got to trains are exhaust-spewing buses. No trains here. I consider it weird that I like trains so much, and when I'm abroad a train ride is heaven for me :D

Also, what's your favourite locomotive, steam or otherwise?
Mine is the Challenger 4-6-6-4.
I've never found one on the CMP or DLS :(

Wouldn't like to live in a country without railways.

Some 2 minutes walk round the corner from my home, I have a choice of 4 buses but I think they are most damn uncomfortable way of travelling into the centre of the city or anywhere however Glasgow is fortunate in having a good suburban rail system with much electrified. For another 8 minutes I walk down to my station for a train every 15 minutes to a choice of the 2 main stations in the city centre or beyond.

For people 60 and over there is a free bus pass for anywhere in Scotland. If you show it alternatively at a rail station in the West of Scotland covered by the big Strathclyde System you can use the train for up to 10 miles for only 60 pence. Going further gives you a further discount on the fare. Living in a rail-free place would be a nightmare!

yes,I agree with Aardvark1. Anyway, I wouldn't be able to stand living in a country without RR. It would KILL me. :o

*I wish I lived in the US*

My advice, build your own model railway, then let people come and see it, you will then have, the first and only active Model railway line in Malta, I'm sure people will travel far and wide to see it...

If your layout is big enough, you could charge people to see it, then expand it with the money you make...

You would be the only owner of the first railway on malta, you'd be up there with Isambard Kingdom brunell...:hehe: well maybe not quite...:D
