"GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A woman sleeping on railroad tracks on Sunday evening escaped injury after part of a Union Pacific train passed over her.

Lands End Fire Protection District Fire Chief Brian Lurvey tells the Daily Sentinel that the woman was wearing earphones and did not hear the train approaching. The first locomotive in the consist rolled over her before the crew could stop the train.

The women was able to move out from underneath the train and walk way. She declined to be examined by emergency personnel and did not inform them of her reason for sleeping between the tracks.

Lurvey says that he was contacted by a Union Pacific special agent regarding the incident, but does not known whether the woman was issued a trespassing citation by Union Pacific."

Very lucky. Normally if the wheels don't get you, there's enough low slung equipment under the train just above railhead level to get caught up on and either mangled that way or tossed under the wheels and it's adios muchachos.

Very lucky...

Indeed! Just as unbelievably lucky as the woman who survived a 4000ft skydiving fall when her parachutes failed to open (allegedly, for whatever reason!) - in the UK news recently.

Rob.

Yes very lucky indeed,But i would have thought she would have been held just to check she was not suffering from any mental health or drug issues and at least contact her family and make sure she was safe after such a trauma.
