With help of several posts and a couple tutorials successfully painted Prjindigo's GP38 Undecorated last night while unable to sleep.
Thank you everyone
Still haven't tried how to capture what is on the screen so here's a couple photos of the screen.
Roadname Willow Creek Traction is freelance originated in 1980s as HO scale trolley models then became On30 outfit.
Color scheme is for their freight motors; passenger stock is orange and maroon.
It ain't finished but here's so far.
Why are they different sizes on preview page here, both are 400 x 300?
Learned some things in GIMP while at it.
As you accurately assume, this is not a product of the first three attempts. :hehe:
--> Haven't yet found parts to color for round centers of radiator and dynamic brake fans; numberboard glass; horn; the fore and aft edges of air filter box projecting above roof; and inboard walls of step wells. I'm missing seeing those five somethings somewhere.
Although, white walls of step wells is kind of starting to look pretty neat.
(remember I'm 30 years used to thinking solid model parts)
White ends have to have red stripes yet.
Learned how to use free downloadable textures in that operation.
(with a Lot of Gaaahhhh! How do you make this work!)
And the way the 3 is offset on road number is a product of the Georgia font. Had no idea that would happen. Picked Georgia because lived there so long and it kind of looks like Microscale's Railroad Roman decals.
Think it will stay that way, it's growing on me, not the run of the mill look.
My wife does trains and is getting her own copy of 2006 delivered in a bit, got it on clearance at Auran. That way we and my Dad all have compatible sets.
We're going to try the i Portal thing to send trains to each other's layouts after Kathy's program comes.
She's 100 miles out of town for an extend time helping her parents and son who are all in bad health right now, so she can't play on my computer.
Her freelance roadname is Katy Springs & Bannington.
Partly inspired by we live in a small town on the Katy trail.
Her colors are yellow with blue trim.
Again, thanks everyone, and guaranteed more questions will come.
Like were were those posts about what programs to use to draw the bodies? Never done that electronically either, used good ole paper and triangles for the solid world models.
And how do you get the guys, or gals, into the cab? Can't just take it off and superglue their posteriors to the seat cushions.
Thank you everyone
