Hi all,
well bought a new computer with windows 7 and have installed trs2006 in the default windows 7 directory which is "C:\progam Files(x86)\auran\trs2006". Now the problem is I can't install any custom content. It will not install into the folder and it comes up with a registry error. I am using the Contnent Manager that come with TRS2006.

Any help much appreciated.

Peter

I created a "New File" and named it "CDP Downloads" and placed that folder under the TRS2006 Program File as a subfile...I store all my 3rd party and custom creations in the CDP Downloads file that I created. I import my content into the CMP from that folder. (Altough I have Vista OS)

To avoid trouble in the future I think you would be better to uninstall the program and then re-install it to another lcation, I use E:\TRS2006 where E: is my Trainz drive, you could use something like C:\Programs\TRS2006, I have a C:\Programs folder where I install stuff that needs write access.

You can, of course, leave it as it is but then you would need to run Trainz and Content Manager as administrator.
Hope this helps

Trainz should be installed in your "C"/Programs drive.

Installing it anywhere else, for instance: on an external hard drive may cause severe lag, as the route will be constantly being searched for. That is unless you have E-Sata which is faster, not to be confused with Sata.

Perhaps your Antivirus or Spyware program, or Firewall needs Trainz to be made an: allowable exception rule.

Hi

I have to disagree with cascaderailroad that Trainz has to be installed on the C:\ drive. In my experience it is correct to say that external drives are slower than an internal drive but it is quite possible to install Trainz onto a seperate partition or a second internal hard drive in the computer. I have Trainz installed on the F:\ drive on my computer which is a partition dedicated to TS2009 on a second internal hard drive. There is no difference whatsoever in performance from when I had it installed on the C:\ drive.

Try running Trainz with Administrator priveledges. Visa and up require this for programs to operate properly.

If this doesn't work, try installing the program as Administrator, and running the program with same permissions.

It should be possible to alter the permissions on the Trainz folder so that you won't have to deal with any Vista/Win7 permission issues, even if not running a program as administrator.

The other workaround is to simply not install it into the Program Files folder, you could use C:\Games\Trainz or whatever. It doesn't have to be on another drive/partition, though if you did put it on another internal drive or a seperate partition then you can reinstall Windows without erasing your Trainz install.
