Will Trainz 2009 run on a 64bit Vista machine

but will it support 64 bit? will there be a speed improvement?
cus im also thinking of moving to vista ultimate 64 bit

Trainz is and will probably stay a 32-bit simulator. However, Auran have stated that TS2009WBE SP1 will allow 64-bit systems to double the amount of memory that trainz can use, i.e. trainz will be able to use 4GB.

Hmmmm . . . for those of us on 32-bit.

I have a very complex route that can benefit from more RAM . . . I think.

BUT where does the extra RAM improve Trainz . . . performance wise.

Higher FPS? Larger routes? Higher screen resolution? OR ALL of them?

Is it really a worthwhile upgrade to go 64-bit if the user isn't building a very large and complex route?

A 64 bit Vista is around $150 . . . thats a chunk-o-change . . . plus the additional 4GB of RAM. It might be wise to determine first, if you REALLY need it . . . before spending.

MORE RAM

i have a very big route as well with about 170 baseboards and 60 to 70 locos al running at the same time each with rolling stock,i am using vista altimate with 4gig of coirsar ddr2 ram with 2X nvidia 8800 gtx videocards with 760 odd of ram on each card, and mine runs very smooth, however the more ram the better ,but it also depends on your motherboard ,cpu ,videocards or card, ram, each of these bits of hardware are conexted to the other so if one isnt at the top of its game ,,or the best quality,it can and it will lag the rest of the hardware which will show in the game ,before you buy new hardware check and do a review of it .all you have to do is type the hardware name and model number into a search engine and type review after the name and model number.good luck

I'm currently running TRS2006 on Vista Ultimate 64-bit. The 2009 Beta 1 ran fine as well and was actually a bit snappier than 2006 on the same system.

I have a Quadcore 6600 2.4Ghz with 4GB RAM, two hard drives 1 TB + 1 500GB. The video is a single 8800GTX with 640MB of RAM.

Like I said no problems with Trainz at all and I am looking forward to TRS2009 when that comes in hopefully really soon.
