Actually a good question. Probably due to the lack of enough interest to support another branch-line forum. While they have some very interesting trains in Japan, I wonder what the level of Trainz is over there?

There are some beautiful routes done by our Japanese Trainzers.

I purchased a route called the Hanawa Line. The texturing and placement of assets was stunning. Not understanding Japanese railroads or the traffic on this route, I only wish there was an included session or at least a list of what consists we need for it.

There's also some included DLC and other content on the DLS that's well done.
 
There is a very active Japan thread under the Screenshots forum. It has fallen back to the second page for now, but if you scroll back through it, AlexMaria has provided a whole site full of Japanese passenger trains. There has also been some freight equipment offered by various developers, but passenger is the major thrust.

こんにちは。ゲームを制作するN3V Gamesの人ではないので返事の内容について誤りがあったら本当に申し訳ございませんが、現時点でこのゲームには日本語が未だサポートされていませんのでデフォルト設定である英語を使用するしかないのが現状です。ただし、もしあなたがN3V Gamesの皆さんに「日本語のサポートをゲームへの実装を希望します」を伝えるなら将来日本語がゲームの中に対応されているかもしれません。

Although I'm uncertain if the post is really from a Japanese speaker or simply from a spammer bot (who picks up certain words from a thread in the past and reposted it just for attracting reply), but hopefully this game could reach more Japanese enthusiasts out there.
 
I was a bit surprised to look down at the "Branch Lines - Language Forums" and see that Japan was not there. Could anyone like the OP start a thread there?

Yes, they were and I think that's still ongoing to add additional language versions of Trainz.
