Who was building Holyhead-Chester? (UK)

Not bugs bunny.
Hi all,

I seem to remember a thread on the old forum with screenshots of a route which followed the North Wales line from Holyhead through Conwy and Chester (if not further). My questions are: who was building it and has the route been released?

I remember there were shots of Conwy castle, the Roodee viaduct and (I think) the trackwork at Chester (General) Station.

Any ideas? I'd love to get hold of the route if it's been released but a DLS search revealed nothing :(

Many thanks,

JB

It was Magandy at UKBL who was working on this layout. I dont know what the progress is at the moment though. I have supplied Andy (Magandy) with a few photos for this, my local route, so I'm looking forward to it aswell!!

Yes its me thats making it but its slow going Im having to make every thing I need for the layout Plus I have many other things on the go. I cant say when it will be released though its approx 82 miles in length plus several branches. I'll get there one day. I may release it in sections as its far to big to upload to the DLS in one go. at the moments its over 150mb file size

Whoops I thought I'd subscribed to this thread! Obviously not

Cheers for the replies guys, it's my local area too hence the interest :D The screenshots were looking lovely from what I remember! Magandy how would you feel about taking more people on board for this (rather large) project? I'd be very keen to help with the buildings and scenery in the Chester area of the route if it's of any help.

Cheers,

JB

JB I have a problem the Harddrive with all my info and the layout has died I have lost almost every thing. I'd love your help, but at the moment I dont know what to do.... Weather to start again or give up.
I have an early back up but I have lost a hell of a lot of work. I also have a seperate route which is Llandudno Junction to Llanrwst. So What shell I do? I dont have the time to spend on this layout that I had when I first started, so its has put this back a long way

 Andy I can't believe I never saw your reply to this thread. I had just moved house at the time so I must not have had a chance to check back I'm sorry!

That's sad news about your hard drive (not that it's news anymore since you posted that in November 2006). How much of the route have you lost? And more importantly, what's left? I'd be more than happy to help out with the Chester end of things as I know the station and general area very well. Apparently they're finally going to replace that missing section of roof over Chester General, it's only taken them 35 years..........

I was driving near the station the other day and noticed that all the old carriage sidings and post office docks by the Chester triangle have been demolished. It's all barren land now, it was always interesting to look at even if nothing ever did seem to move from there :( I'm not sure how long it's been like that, it looks fairly recent but then I checked out Google Earth and it looks the same, so must have been a while ago. I thought it was bad enough when they built that horrible blue maintenance depot for the 175s when they were introduced. I remember the local rag describing it as "a high speed train maintenance facility". I got quite excited at the prospect of more frequent Virgin HST sightings around Chester, only to find out their "high speed trains" were plastic boxes with an ugly front!

Anyway as I say, if you need a hand with trackwork and the general area around Chester I'd be eager to help out. Depending on what period you're modelling there'll be quite a need for custom buildings so I'm quite happy to help building those too.

Cheers,

JB

At the moment JB I have several other projects on the go .... The Lynton to Barnstaple, The Bluebell line plus loads of other models. I will pick this up again at some point but I cant see it beinjg done soon. Thanks for the offer of help, I may take you up on it. I often get side tracked so I could start it sooner rather than later, ;) We'll have to see
