white signals

Just found these left-hand signals, but they come out white.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a thread about this, but I couldn't find it. Anyone know if there is any kind of fix for this? I'm using 2004 btw.

Well, the mesh is there, so I figure it has to be a errant texture file, or a misnamed one.

Somehow you've lost the texture files. I just downloaded them and they show no errors in '06. Try deleting them and downloading again.

Well, I deleted them and reinstalled them and got the same result. Is it possible that they only work in 06? I'm running 04.

Does anyone know of any other of the USA style (left) signals like the ones pictured above that definately work in 04?

Thanks

I used to have major problems with Assets being white,and it was because I was using out of date Video Drivers.Have you checked them?

Well that's interesting. Just for the heck of it, I loaded up '04 and you are correct. They don't show in '04 even though I downloaded through FTP with only '04 and lower checked. Aha, they're binary texture files. It's possible to edit them back to normal texture files with TGA2Tool. Maybe someone has a link.

Well at least I'm not crazy!!!

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, I'm all ears.

Or, if any of the great creators out there would be able to re-make the auran usa signals for the left side, that would be awesome!

Thanks

Check the size of your texture files and examine the pixel size all textures for trainz must use the powers of two.

Wide X High :

2X2
4X4
16X16
256x256

I have heard some say a texture could be

256X16 and still work.

I've extracted the .texture files as .tga files, but I'm stuck with the alpha channel for searchlight_opacity. I can't figure out how to separate it and save. Hopefully someone with more experience with graphics programs will see this. You'll need the alpha channel as a mask for the ladder.

Thanks, I didn't know TGATool2 would extract the tga's from the texture file.

As for the alpha channel I saved it as the search_opacity.tga. Then I made the *.texture.txt files and listed the tga file as both the primary and alpha sources. Then I moved the *.texture files out of folder and the textures now show up when viewing the usa_1.im file. I checked in surveyor just now and the textures show up. The coronas are a little bright though.

Uhhhh - I think this is all a bit over my head, and beyond my skillset.

I do appreciate everyone's help here though.

To Lynxfan - it sounds like you've pretty much done what I was hoping for - is there any chance you could upload these to the dls so everyone can benefit from your expertise?

That would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

neil

I couldn't upload those as they are not my assets.

Here is the three line text file to use the alpha channel of the .tga file saved from TGATool2.

searchlight_opacity-searchlight_opacity.texture.txt

contains:
===========
Primary=srchltop.tga
Tile=st
Alpha=srchltop.tga
============

Note: srchltop.tga is the file name that I gave to the texture file I extracted from "searchlight_opacity-searchlight_opacity.texture" using TGATool2 and doing a save as from that program.

Agreed. I downloaded them a year ago but haven't used them. I'm looking forward to being able to place signals on both sides of a double track. It sucks having to place the 2 tracks unrealistically far apart to put a right-hand signal in between them.

I appreciate everyone's responses.

Does anyone know if the original creator (CEEBEE) is still around?

I'll see if I can send him a request.

Neil

Not much consolation to your delima but I downloaded them today in 06 and they work just fine with the alpha channels and all colors and no errors. I'm running 06 in open GL.
