Where is the Engine?

I want to play the quick play in 2010 and when I start up and select one of the routes, I then get a window saying New Train, Consist... I select new train and it shows the trains available ,then I select a place on the track and it puts the train there but there is no engine on the train. I have play 2006 edition and it had engines. How do I get an engine on the consist?

I don't have 2010, but I assume like earlier versions you must add the engine to the consist and then save the result as a consist. Then in the future when you place the saved consist, the engine{s} will be included.

Thanks for replying,
In 2010 I have to create a session that includes the train I guess, I re read the manual and it has the steps in there. In any case it is complicated, you can not just click on drive and have it all ready to go.
I just like to play causally once in a while. I guess I will have to go through the whole process before I can do that.:o

Once you have made a consist and saved it, it will be there for you to place on any of your routes. When you are in Surveyor, and are placing rolling stock and locomotives on the track using the TRAINS button, after you have made up your consist, then click on the consist button at the top of the train tab window. Next, go down to the button on the bottom left in that tab that shows "Get Consist" when you hover your mouse arrow over it and click on it. Then, go back to the Surveyor, click on your new consist, the window will pop up saying "New Consist" but simply back space over that or highlight it and just write in a unique name for your consist. Click save, and you have your consist for any route you wish

Names I might use: UP Big Boy Passenger Consist Long for a passenger consist of perhaps 10-15 Pullman type cars behind the UP Big Boy and Tender. Or something like CSX 3 SD40 Coal Consist 36 Gond to describe a 3 engined CSX consist of SD40's with 36 gondola cars. Have fun!
