Trying to locate the folder in which routes are stored for TRS2006. Can anyone tell me if they are kept in the same editing folder as locos and rollingstock, or if they are stored somewhere else.
What I do is, create a folder somewhere called the same name as my route, then start CMP and open for edit in explorer the route, now copy everything into the other folder.
Lastly, recommit the route in CMP.
But the route will be in the editing folder once its open for edit to answer your question.
I was getting a fatal error on start up of TRS2006. It wouldn't load, CMP wouldn't load. As a result, I had to reinstall and have lost one route I was working on.
Oh ok sorry, then you would have to go through the local folder and try to find it, if your like me with quite a few gig worth of content installed your in for a very long night.
The folders in there are named by CMP in a random way, so finding it would be a mission and a half.
Sorry again, didn't know you couldn't start CMP...
When you have CMP working (and TRS is not crashing LOL) there can be a number of ways to find content.
Using your creations/layouts as an example, pull up the search screen and in the select box select "Author ID", then you enter the Authors name "Colhad" If you where searching for someone like Ish would would need to enter "Ish6" as this is his user Id. (I think that is what you use and I can not at the moment use CMP as I am loading TrainzObjectz ), now you will have ALL your content. Now you can refine the search select, so add another search filter and this time select Location and select local, now you have all your content that is stored on your computer. Open another search filter and select "Category" then select "Routes", now you should have any route on YOUR computer created by you. If you play around with these filters, they can be very handy to find content either on your computer or on the Download Station.
If you need anything more to find your creations let me know and I will help.
As to Backing up content in 2006 I use the Archive function and actually store the Archives on another disk. Archiving can take some time if you have a lot of content but it is well worth the effort. Try to keep your Archive file to about 500MB as these are easier to work with in the case of a TRS2006 crash. Again if you need help with these let me know either here or on MSN.
Looking at routes and sessions that you've downloaded is something that you'll do alot so it really simplifies searches if you create 3 custom tabs for CMP. Pull up the Search action panel and select:
Category - Session
Location - Local
NOT Builtin
then click on save and name it Custom Sessions. Then do another:
Category - Routes
Location - Local
NOT Builtin
then click on save and name it Custion Routes. Finally do:
Author ID - (your userid)
and save this as My Content.
Now your CMP will have 2 new tabs that will let you quickly display your downloaded routes or your sessions and 1 tab to quickly pull up your content.
