Years ago I was called to RG Tower in Grays Ferry to assist a NYC trash train that was in emergency, as the trainline air hose had pulled apart. The trainmaster wanted me to go get a Dutchman (which he explained, was an elongated air hose extension). I told him that he better get 137 of Dutchmen, for all of these long cars, which sometimes pop air hose's on tight curves.
That 2 week old NYC garbage train wreaked to high heavens, and actually made me puke, on a hot steamy august day.
I understand that they are shredding garbage, and burning it in power generation plants down south in the US ... either that or huge valleys are being filled with mountains of fetid NYC garbage.
