When will EE be released?

Some Might Say
Hi,
I've owned TS2009 christmas and it is a great game, but it lacked new loco's, carradiges, routes and wagons etc. Then after some research I found out that Auran are soon to release TS2009 Engineer's Edition.

So, when will it come out?

Trainz EE Spec

Does anyone know what will be new in the new edition. Will WBE be able to be updated with the new features or do we have to buy a whole new program?

Trainz Engineer Edition when it is released will be just that - an engineers (drivers) edition. It will not have the surveyor with it. Trainz EE will be similar to Trainz 2006 Drivers Edition.

While it appears from previous information that owners of EE will be able to download items from the DLS, they will not have a surveyor module with which to build your own layouts. From previous versions, it was always required to use surveyor to place rolling stock on the layout and create a session which was used to store the rolling stock placements. Without a surveyor module, it is hard to say how the new rolling stock downloaded off the dls will be placed on an existing map, but I would suppose something will be in place to provide that functionality.

As far as when wil EE be released? Well, only Auran knows that (and probably not clearly yet). EE will require a great deal of content built to the standards required. Creating content is probably the stumbling block as it can take months or evern years to create accurate, functional assets.

Of course I could be way off the mark on this. I am going by memory from articles / forum threads I have read in the past. Personal experience with content creation tells me not to hold my breath. I'll throw a guess at a Christmas time release.

As PerRock has posted , Soon(tm) !
But let us hope that WBE is brought up to date first , then those who wish EE will have the many problems of WBE possibly solved ?
Don't wish for something that will only be a continuation of problems !

My thoughts --- ,DLR

When you have both WBE and EE installed, they will be compatible with each other....

what advantage to having both? except wonderful new content which will take years of development and several breakthroughs in 4 dimensional physics -- so that '04 can be renumbered '09? and many, many fine content creators can come back because they know their work will still work the year after?

The new Global Consist Manager rule is what will allow you to place rolling stock in Driver. It is already being tested in the open beta of SP2 so it should be included with SP2 when it is released. You can read all about it in the Wiki at Trainzdev.

http://www.trainzdev.com is a server maintained by Auran for information and discussions regarding TS2009WBE.

Amongst other things, it has a wiki and a forum. A wiki is a web site on which all registered users can read, create and edit articles. Probably the best known wiki is Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia.
