When adding newer version to your tranz collection

Hi guys, my build no is 49933.
When we add newer pack versions of trains or digital downloads , does all existing content from the older versions get added and become available automatically in the latest version ?
I ask because see there are some industries , rolling stock etc not available when using the dropdown windows for example in TS 2010 and TS 2006. I am still learning the language and terms that are used in the forums so pse excuse me if I have missed some existing answers to these questions.

Hi jjanmarine3,

Content from previous versions does not automatically add itself to later versions. You must do this manually using the Import Content option in Content Manager (of the newer version). You can then select the content folder for the relevant version (for TRS2006, this would be the Local folder in the Trainz install folder).

If you have previous content stored in .cdp files, use the Import CDP option in Content Manager, then select the appropriate .cdp files.

Yes. Patching a version of Trainz to a new build number (program version) simply means the actual software itself has been upgraded - the only thing the patch changes is the program's source code. Installed content isn't changed in any way, and can continue to be used in the new build.

Although I'm not sure if this is the same in 2006, in 2010 if certain content isn't appearing in the content lists in Surveyor or Railyard then it's usually the Favourites filter hiding most of the content. There are two ways to disable this annoying feature.

Either click on the yellow star at the top of the list in Railyard so that it's greyed out, or, in the main menu, under Options select Surveyor Options, and click the tick off next to 'Only Show Favourite Content' and then click OK. All content installed on your system should now appear in the list.

Just be aware though that a lot of older content (for instance, 06 content) may have errors and be listed in red, and would probably require fixing (if you're running 2010 in Compatibility Mode though most 'red' content will still work, but not always).
