What's Your Experience With UMR2011-Megamerge-Summer Sessions?

Hi,

did anybody try sessions on this link: http://trainzsessions.pcmac-inc.com/?DivisionID=9760&ToggleSideNav= ? If yes, did you have problems with them? I did. I know there is a new version of neilsmith's route for TS2012, where signals are fixed, but that's not what I wanna talk about. I tried several sessions. Problem is, the author probably forgot to place triggers for html message for engineer. One best example - yesterday I tried session Clarkseville Local. When I approached to the yard, I got an message such like "We need to stop before next signal and wait for clearance to enter the yard". The next signal was green, but I stopped there and waited. After about 10 minutes I decided to enter to yard and nothing's happend. I loaded hoppers and followed another instructions.

Second problem was where to uncouple the locomotive. After third or fourth try I undestood I had to stop close behind the yard and uncouple locomotive. When I listed back in html pages I noticed a message about uncoupling locomotive, which never appeared! I thought myself author forgot to place the trigger for it.

When I turned my locomotive on turntable, I coupled cars again. Than I had to go to the next red signal and wait for hopper train passing. When I leaved yard, the message about uncoupling loco appeared! Trigger was on wrong rail?!

I didn't see any red signal all over the rest of route, BTW. Then I was warned I will have to go on siding in LANG WYE. I was forced to LANG WYE siding, where I got message such like "Stop here and wait for tanker train passing". I stopped and what do you think? Of course, no passing train. I checked engineer's list and noticed no other engineer (so no other train) in this sessions. So I don't understand this - for what trains I had to wait? And most importat question - did author try this sessions ever?

I know it's question for sessions author (dakridge) first, but he never replied me.

From memory, UMR2011 is made for TS012. According to your timeline you are running TRS2004. I wouldn't expect the session to run perfectly (if at all), on an older version of Trainz.

UMR2011 is for TS2009 SP4/TS2010 (check DLS site) the same as sessions for it. Even session creator writes about it: "After a long time away from the original Trainz, I bought TRS2010 and decided to try my hand at building sessions." I couldn't imagine myself that wrong version could move the trigger, for example.

I have TS2010 registered under my real name. That's why you don't see this in my timeline.

I have just tried the Travis daily Coal session, 1, starting at grantly and it is well and truly bugged. i encountered a red signal 9 miles into the journey. No train in the next section and plain line so after stopping i passed it at danger. At PAB Canyon you have to stop for a train in the other direction. However point switch in front of me was not set for AI train. AI train started off but was stopped at a red signal. Again no train in the section ahead and plain line. So I used the stop command and drove train past signal and restarted AI. However the switch I mentioned still did not change so I changed it myself and the signal ahead of the AI, protecting the single line changed to green. At this point I got fed up with it and saved the session. Conclusion... These sessions are clearly bugged.

Thank you for your post. When I read William0d0 post I started myself I'm going crazy :-)). I tried all three TDCS and only number #3 is usable - only one time I had to drove past red signal - before entering to Travis. Session #2 was very short, because I had to wait for Amtrak in the other direction which was blocked by previous NS train :-(.

I just tried running it. I had the same red light problem.

Something on the route has changed, I didn't have that problem before.

Im very sorry, this is the first I'm seeing this post and didn't see an email or PM. These sessions were tested by several individuals before release. I'm exclusively working in TS12 but will go back and check these sessions and update for UMR2011. I've had many compliments and no real problems from people other than finding assets.

Would you be willing to test some updates after I go through them? If so, what version of Trainz are you using? Are you using UMR2011-Megamerge-summer?

Let me know, PM me if you can.

Hi, no problem, I thought you are busy. Yes, I would like to test some updates. I'm using TS2010 and UMR2011-Megamerge-summer. There are my experiences with sessions:

Travis Daily Coal Session 1: there are too many problems with red lights. Almost impossible to finish this session.
Travis Daily Coal Session 2: I had to right click on signals where engineers Tom and Nick had to wait and set "Set Restricted State: On". Than they could go. Otherwise I see report message "Tom is waiting for permission..." and Nick blocked me in summit.
Travis Daily Coal Session 3: Almost no problems with red lights, except one, before entering to Travis.
Clarkseville Local Coal: I had to ignore some reds, but finished sessions without bigger problems. Only one stranger thing happened there - tank car train came earlier to Long Wye than hopper train. Later I saw tank car overtakes hopper one. I swapped them in editor and now it's OK.
Gladston Intermodal: no big problems, only I had to ignore signals at Clarkseville South, Blainseville Mine North and before Monterrey Crosssover.
Millhurst Local Session: I had to ingore red at Clarseville South, Clarkseville Warehousing, Carver (leaving signal, two times) and Port Crossover. Also I had to use "Set Restricted State: On" for Thomas, otherwise he would block me.

OK, I'm looking forward. BTW I'm glad somebody makes sessions for this beautiful route.

I wrote on your site you are planning to make such sessions for Marias Pass Route X, which I bought too. That's great...

In my opinion the UMR Series is one of the best routes in Trainz! Not many even come close. I've developed a good relationship with Neil Smith (the creator) and hope to make many sessions. I want to keep them updated as the route changes. It will be good to have another person to test.

Yea, I bought it also. I love the assets that came with the route. I've looked at pictures of the Pass on the intenet to get a feel for the types of consist they run way up there. It will be fun. I'm assuming it's okay to create and advertise sessions for the route. I have asked permission several times and have received no answer. I don't want to create sessions only to be told I can't publish them. I really takes me hours and days to get these things right.

I do something similar. When I make consists for my own sessions, I would like to use them as real as possible. I'm using YouTube for it and writing informations to Excel table. I don't like consists type "10 same hoppers+20 same tank cars :). But I know it's the easiest way for session creators. I thought myself I could change consists in Marias Pass Heavy Haul session too...
