I remember when I was little there were numerous "British" locomotives in various forms (sheets, books, etc.) that only *looked* British, that were in fact, simply the product of some illustrators fevered imagination. Which is to say, they were fictitious, borrowing features from various real locomotives.

I thought it was: "Henry" the Green Engine at first: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/_...images/thumb/d/d4/Oliver.png/324px-Oliver.png

Not that I ever watched "Thomas & His Friends" TV show, OH NOOOOHhhh !

Never watched Teletubies, nor Mr Rogers, No Sir, Never ! (Well almost never)
He was asking what real life loco the one in the picture was based on. The image is not of a Thomas character.

And the picture you linked to is Oliver, not Henry.

I'm still looking for a match. Although it could be a Seagull of the Furness Railway or a North British Railway D34.

BTW, THIS is Henry: http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/...Tank Engine/Nameplates/RareHenryNameplate.jpg
