What's the point???

Yesterday I spent HOURS adding keywords to a long list of files, so that I would be able to easily find them and line them up in CMP for editing or whatever. Then today, CMP crashed (as it does often). When it reopens, it then goes through "rebuilding database", and vupti, all my keywords are GONE. So, I ask myself, what's the point? It's just a giant excercise in futility.

Aye...I experienced the same thing the hard way, as I'm sure a few of us have.

Since that moment, I've opted to change the "username" in the config files instead. When CMP rebuilds the updated "username" is retained.

Sure it can be a potentially drawn out process, but I've found it has become second nature now. It, in my opinion, is also well worth the effort.

Thanks, runner
I'll have a go at that instead. When I've recovered from my recent fit of rage, that is.

Hi,

Use the even harder way, open each config file and add the keywords needed there, that way they never go away... :)

That is how I do it, but then again, I only now a days work on my own stuff so I do have full control over the files. ;)

I can understand the frustration though, being full of it my self.

Best of luck

Linda

Or just back up your keywords from CMP's file menu. When it crashes, just re-import them.

Hmm ... in my CMP the option to back-up the keywords is greyed-out. Must be overlooking something obvious.

Edit: now I am truly baffled. In TRS2007 I can back-up keywords but not in TC3

All these versions :o

There's never a simple answer, it's always "if you run this or that version, then...." and then it's most likely the opposite for another. Geeeeeze.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all be on the same page. What a lot of assets, knowledge and advice we could all share.

Thanks all, for your input.

It is never going to happen jytte. Unfortunately there are so many different version at the moment and the differences in performance and system requirements too big for a large group of users to flock to one version of the simulator.

Sad but true.
