Whats needed for reskinning?

Hi All,

Just a little curious what I need to be able to reskin a locomotive, or rolling stock for that matter. I'm interested in putting a Canadian Pacific skin onto a ATSF F7A that came with TRS2009, mostly because the ATSF model is about 50% more detailed than the CP one. I know it probably won't be so simple as copy & paste, but I'd like to try anyway, if someone could direct me to the tools needed, I would much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Greg

You would need a program like Irfanview, Adobe Photoshop, or Microsoft Paint. I use Photoshop for reskinning because of the many tools it has, but either of those will do. You would basically need a functioning Content Manager and an editing program like I already mentioned, and you're good to go. :)

All fine advice, but you can just download GIMP for free:

This will serve as a fine graphics program without spending any money.

Once you get your program working, you use it to open the file you are trying to paint, and make all your changes on that map, save, and commit. You can do this to a clone of the object if you like, in fact, it's probably the preferred method.
