What's iCloud?

OK, I know this is nothing Trainz related, so mods, delete it if you like.

Apparently I just downloaded and installed something called iCloud. It's too late at night for me to investigate, so I'll ask, what the H is it, and should I keep it?

It's Apple related software, usually alongside Quicktime and ITunes. I believe it's to do with their cloud service.

Basically, it is internet storage that you can access across multiple devices to add an additional backup file source. Apple markets it as part of their line of computer products as an additional way to store data and content to be accessed later from different devices. So if you frequently use Apple products (phones, touch tablets, or computers) and need a way to store things like photos, video, and etc I would hold onto it. It is not unlikely that you won't find a use for icloud services (I don't, and I am fairly tech savvy), so its just as easy to just delete it. It just comes down to whether you have a use for online storage of general computer items like photos and video.
