What results beta 2009. Make NEW content. install using only new CMP2. using NON normals textures? .................... Do non normal textures install OK into the beta 2009 using the new CMP for 2009 beta?........ Not worth posting on devforum as more for beta testers and high speed broadband devotees, etc, as still using a computer with wind up handle here and a quill pen?..........no problems except the goose is lacking a few feathers as the quill pen keeps breaking. Mails comes by stagecoach twice a week......... Barry...P.S. maybe 3 times a week if I ever get around to using trainz again for my 1785 content ........

Normals. Make new item without normals map texture. i.e ordinary uv texture. Install into trainz 2009 using the new trs2009 cmp2. 2009 build number in config? Does it install. Basic enough question. B

Hi Barry,

To answer your question, changing the build to 2.9 will force CM2 (the P is gone):) to error check the item against the 2.9 standards. Most of the time this will cause it to be flagged as faulty and faulty items may or may not show in the game. I tried your test with an item and it did show as faulty but none of the errors were due to the missing normal map. The faults were related to obsolete tags in the config.

To test further, I took one of my ground textures that do have normal maps and work just fine at build 2.9 and changed the image of the normal map to be the same as the diffuse map image and TS2009 did not complain. It seems that tag line in the config.txt is required but the image it points to does not have to be a normal map image. Of course, you don't get the 3D effect in the game.

Hope this is what you were looking for,
William

Here is a image of the backdrop object I used in the test. Notice it is tinted pink in the list on the right to show it is faulty.

Only change to the object was the build went from 2.4 to 2.9.

Thanks William for your reply and test. Appreciated.... Don't think wrestling with configs is my favourite pastime anymore though......... Making content is no problem with Blender so looks like 1785 for just the sailing simulator and no configs (when the next version eventually is available)....... Barry
