What is wrong with the system

hi all, i am only new to this and it will probably seem like a simple question or problem, so here goes,
i have trainz 2004 and 2006 loaded on my computer, the trouble is that when i start up 2004 in surveyor mode i can build a new route and do all the things that it is supose to do however, When i click on the driver rules icon it make the thing that i am working on disappear and a box comes up and i get a fatal error message it says.

class : hardware
reason: access violation.

exception @ 00674646 in c:\ program files\auran\trains 004\bin\trains.exe

and allso displayes a heap of other text which consists of 3 letter groups and followed by 8 digit figures.

this has only occured since i have loaded trainz 2006 on tomy computer
when i installed 2006 it did the program and computer check and it said it was ok,i try to open 2006 and it refuses to open,the computer displays the hour glass for about 3 minutes and then goes back to the arrow pionter

It sounds like a conflict with other programs, some of which you may not want.
The first thing to do would be to clean your computer. I recommend Ccleaner. It's a basic but fairly powerful way to clean out viruses hiding in your temp files. http://www.ccleaner.com/ And it's free.
More freeware can clean some of the spyware out of your hard drive.
http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html Use Spybot every week to keep ahead of the nasties.
And once that is done, your favorite anti-virus can help clean out the trojans and data loggers that the internet is kind enough to add to your computer without telling you. If you don't have one you like, Grisoft offers AVG http://www.grisoft.com/?type=ps3925e and Avast offers their own spykiller. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
Once you've done a little clean-up, Trainz might come back to its former glory. Otherwise, you may have to reload TRS04.
