What industries go with what cars?

Forgive me if this has been asked but returning to Trainz after a few years has its drawbacks.
I remember a document somewhere about this but we only had a few industries back then.
Saw a crane moving a pipe on a layout I was messing with. I think it was Phil's and I'll check tonight.

If you plop down a industry, how do you know what train cars go with it?

There isn't really any way to find out what cars are compatible with an industry at a glance from in-game. If you know what products the industry in question produces, you can look up the product assets in your CMP, right click on them, and choose 'View Dependent Assets' chances are most rolling stock will reference what products (if any) they can carry in their KUID-Table and this will list any assets - including cars - which reference the product type.

Of course, there's always the option in Surveyor Mode to add or remove product types to/from a car manually in it's properties window. Just click the black and white + symbol where it lists the cars supported products and the quantities it has loaded on it to add another product to it's list.

Lastly, you may want to look into LARS/ProtoLARS (aka the Logistics and Resource System) from TrainzProRoutes. There's lots of stuff on the DLS that has support for LARS and it acts as a sort of versatile, stand-alone, reusable industry library, since it has several dozen different products at it's disposal (anything from Apples to Zinc Oxide, really) and an development kit available that allows you to quickly add LARS-compatible industry scripting to existing assets.

Is the chart you are looking for?

YES! That's the one.
What has been added? Maybe it might be worth me updating it and posting it on my web site?

Thanks wreeder.

Xengeance, interesting info. I'll look into that system.

Portal
Portal Basic
Portals can consume any loaded cars and then return the train empty.

Multiple Industry
Multiple Industry Basic
Multiple Industry New
These can be setup to produce or consume all the products of the other industries in the chart.

There are also "basic" versions of all the other industries. These are just a segment of track with the same function as the full version. In other words you can place whatever building you want next to the track segment.

Jup. All this is fine. But we still are not able to know what a particular car is able to load.. in driver mode. If you click on one, you can see if it is loaded or empty, but of what? Loaded is known, but if it carries nothing (empty), it should be able to say what you can load. Yes? Is that so hard to do?

GaryP, This has been a thron in my side for years. But i have found a rule that will let you know what a car will carry and how much. This rule will let you build a train and send the train via a portal all while in driver.
Now i made a list of what cars carry what and how much so when i'm in surveyor i'll know what cars to use for my new IND. My list is not long because i only use USA stuff ( not to say that other countries stuff is bad just i like USA)
The rule is Emit Train Now <kuid2:117746:990:4>
Now you will need a exit track long enoght to handly your trains before the first signal and a trackmark (any on your route will work) Now if you just want train cars only you will need the re-rail portal. (the rerail portal will emit trains too) This rule will not work for Iportals
