What great improvement in trainz since it was introduced.

I've been addicted to this simulator since it came out.
I have seen so many improvements and developement like rolling stock and engines with realistic sounds better framerates,
Great scenery and texturing realistic routes and prototypical running of trainz.
The content creators on here are unbelievable they keep coming up with so many new features it's hard to keep up with them.
I hope everyone appreciates all of their work like I do.
This is sure a great place to visit every day and see who is making another fine feature for us to enjoy.
Very nice people on here also.

Just wanted to say thanks for a great place to visit.

I agree Bob, overall the program has made great strides, and the creators have as well. Generally it's a good bunch that hangs out here, and the rest, well... that's what the "ignore list" is for, I guess!

I played a demo of the original trainz or UTC once, and I must say, big improvement in rolling stock, graphics, scenery items, and locomotives.

I remember spending whole nights, in the summer of 2002, switching cars with the blue and yellow Santa Fe SD-40s.

10 years after, I still sometimes spend the better part of a night playing around with much improved trains running among amazing scenery objects :D

Thanks to all the creators which provided us with countless hours of fun!

I will agree with what Bob said. But I would like to also point out that for all that has been improved that a lot of the core basics have not changed.
The way we can create a train consist easily.(as compared to MS Train Sim as an example.) The way we can create any landscape easily. Relative to each users skills. The same for applying texture to the landscape.
So for all that has been added and improved, Auran and now NV3 have kept that core essentially the same. We may have had different interfaces over the years but in the end (to me) it is just the same old trainz.

I'm using TS12 and I remember we used to be able to uncouple a car, while moving, and stop the engine and the car would continue down the tracks. Is this still possible? I tried once or twice but haven't been able to do it yet.

I hope they fix that. That was one thing I liked while switching in the yard. Where I worked you could always see lone cars rolling down the tracks.

I agree too the improvements are really awesome in addition to the core compatibility.

I think the car kicking ended up breaking in TS12 among a few other things.

Perhaps in a new update some day soon(TM) we'll see that feature come back.

From what I've read in other threads we have lost the ability to "kick" cars.

I think it may have more to do with the engine specs for the various vehicles. I use TS12 and am a habitual car kicker. I find that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Haven't narrowed down the variables enough to clearly define the cause. Been too busy having fun creating sessions and running trains.
