Weather Control

G'Day All,
Being not very bright I am trying to use the "Weather Control v2" but cannot get it to work right...In test mode I keep getting messages like missed percentages etc...There seems to be a lot of possibles and %s and chances in there..Is there a tutorial for silly old fossils like me to understand and get it to work right out there??

Also speaking of weather is there any way to have a good rain in driver without all the lightning and thunder? I am a bit sensitive to all the flashes in the rain mode..In the World mode you can alter the rain intensity with the dial at the top left but cannot save it...

thanks...

I always use the "Set Driver Conditions" rule in my layouts & sessions. That way, if I want rain---I just click to start the rain. If I want lightning and thunder, I set it to "Stormy". Or if I want snow, or "Periodic Change" I click on that. It's easy as pie. Just add the "Set Driver Conditions" rule to your surveyor. You can also select between DCC or Direct Drive \mode, change the time of day, etc. etc.

I would totally agree with the above Set_Driver_Conditions_Rule By G.M. KUID: 99999:696969 is the simple solution

I have set that rule into my session - but I can't seem to find the button that gives me the controls.... Do I press a certain button once the session is in progress?

Once in your session you should see a HUD on the upper left side which lets you set time, time rate and weather. Once you have them set as desired, click the Go button on the HUD and away you go :)

Have fun,

The small round button (intentionally unobtrusive I suppose) is difficult to see, as it's semi-transparent and might be hidden by something. It's up there at the top left. This is an excellent rule, I recommend it to everyone.

Thanks but more

Thank-you to all..
I have tried the Set driver conditions rule and it works good but can any-one give me a solution to my second query about the lightning flashes in the rain mode??This in my opinion should only occur in the storm mode..I would like to have a decent rain in driver mode (better than drizzle) without all the thunder and lightning.

Thank-you again..

I agree!

Lightning = Storm & Rain is rain!

I have TRS 2006, and when I set my weather to "Rain" (right between "Drizzle" and "Stormy") I get ONLY rain... no lightning at all.

Weather Control V2 worked well for me in TRS2004, but wasn't so good in TRS2006 and doesn't work in TC3 or TRS2009 without throwing up the dreaded error boxes!

I use either the "Set Conditions Rule" as the other guys have said, but, of course, that doesn't randomise the weather. If you want it randomised, I would suggest the "Regional Weather" rule which allows you to pre-programme localised weather conditions when your train reaches certain trackmarks.

G'Day All,
Being not very bright I am trying to use the "Weather Control v2" but cannot get it to work right...In test mode I keep getting messages like missed percentages etc...

That is correct behaviour. The test mode sends these messages to inform you what the script is doing. If there is a 10% chance of it changing from dry to drizzle, this means that roughly nine times out of ten, the percentage will be missed, meaning the weather will not in fact change.

If you want it to definitely change every time, you need to set 100% chance for every weather type selected.
In normal use, just set it up and run it without test mode enabled - no more message box. Just wait and see what the weather does! :)

When I wrote the Weather Control V2 rule, I designed it to give as much control over every aspect of the weather as possible.

This means that as well as being able to disable certain states of weather, you can also set timing and percentages for the changes.

As Stuart says, the test mode is meant to display these messages, to show you how your percentages will work without having to wait for the weather to change in real time.

As for the rule working, it was created and tested in TRS2004 and TRS2006, without problems, so if you're having problems with it in either of these versions, you need to check that no other weather rule is interfering with it's operation, and that you are setting the initial weather in the built-in weather rule to one of the "enabled" states you decided on in Weather Control V2.

As for TC and TS2009, I offer no support for these versions.
I no longer try to keep up with Auran moving goalposts that didn't need to be moved, and as such, none of my scripts will be updated for these versions.

Smiley.

Meeerrrrow! Hiss!:hehe:

Of Course the goalposts had to be moved! How could Auran place the burden on the Creators without moving them?:p

More Violent Lightening ?

My storms seem to be very distant, and the nearby lightening bolts do not make noise.

Is there a way to make lightning storms extremely violent, and increase the rate of noisy bolts of lightening ?

I am quoting Sterret above: "regional weather rule". I used to have it, I used and was very good. Then 09 came and it did not work anymore. Does anybody knows about this, how to make it work, and if there is any update available? Please??

Just ran across this post while looking for something else. I wrote it, should be on the DLS. It broke in TANE. I have no current plans to fix it, especially with async now.
