Wanted to buy Trainz 2012 - disappointed

i'd pay 20 dollars a year for a subscription to trainz -- [snip]

I agree with this and think it's a good idea. I'd subscribe too.

[snip] selling big routes and all is to sell against the beauty-spot game, rail sim, and the auran engine just can't make it up that grade.

I agree with this as well. Having just upgraded to Trainz 2012 I find the graphics to be much inferior to Rail Simulator. However Designer is much easier.

'railworks' is called train simulator 2 now,
Not entirely correct.

I was in Fry's in Atlanta, GA yesterday and found the boxed edition of Trainz 2012 for $39.99! That's what I just paid for the download version. The boxed edition includes the printed manual so is the greater value. However you can bet Auran still made money on the boxed edition at Fry's.

I'm still happy with the way Auran provided me with a 20% voucher for the download edition (I was offered the same discount for the boxed edition as well). If I'd have paid $49.99 (US) for the download at the Auran download store, I'd have been pissed when I'd have seen the boxed edition on the shelf for $10 less.

In any case Auran's got a happy customer and handled my inquiry (after I made this forum post) satisfactorily. Customer satisfaction is important for ensuring your company's longevity.

thanks!

i just saw that our fry's has it for that price, too... which would be not-taxed, here in oregon, and a WES train roundtrip ride for a buck for us over 65'ers. that's an ok price for me, and i always get the boxed version. plus the big-scale train ride to wilsonville.

thanks for this.

Railworks 3 could be my favourite simulator, but they really need to work on a frame limiter. Because of no framelimiter the movements are so jerky, jumping from 20-40 fps all the time, not enjoyable at all. So trainz is the best simulator right now... :(
